If you're on a 2nd gen iPod or first gen iPhone then I would hazard a guess that your warranty is up. If that is so go jailbreak that thing with Greenp0ison and fake your firmware version to 4.3 and much more. Then you can play pocket edition, but there could be a loss in frame rate. :L
you cannot fake your version but the new 4.3 update and above include open glsl 2 and better graphics updates which the older devices can not handle.
Many of us iPod, iPhone, users may not really be able to get the Pocket Edition
I myself have an iPod Touch 2G. the highest firmware version it can get is 4.2.1
This aplies to the ipod touch 3g and iphone 3g as well
Probaby after many modifications it may become "playable" on the earlier ones
But if you have any iOS device that cant support iOs 4.3
No minecraft for you!
and yes, i know that it its because the devices are not powerful enough to support it
No, It works on iPod touch 3G, and the iPhone 3gs. It does not work on iphone 1 or 2 (2=3G). It does not work on ipods 1g and 2g. iPod touch 3g works
I hate the price of it...it is expensive for what it is at the moment! I could of used the money i used for it to get at lease 4..or more decent games...If i knew it was this bad i wouldnt of bought it but oh well...no going back now

As I've said many times before: a little intelligent research would have you correctly informed.
If you don't like what you got for the price or feel you have been cheated, that's your own fault for not spending a few minutes looking into what that money was buying. Complaining now is like hitting yourself in the face with a hammer and blaming the guy that sold you the hammer that it hurt more than you thought...

If there is a choice to be made, there will always be snobbish brats for either side.
In fact, there are probably people calling each other fanboys for whether they agree or disagree with the above statement.
I am angry about it. Mojang and Apple. And our devices CAN support it, its just the fact that Apple are being dicks to us and making us buy their new ****. I waited for this for SO LONG! and now they give us this ****. Thanks Apple and Mojang. Thanks.
Sorry to bring back an old thread but even if you fake your firmware and still download it like I did on my ipod touch 2g it still doesnt work because minecraft pocket edition needs an armv7 processor while everything below itouch 2g has armv6

JUST BUY ANOTHER ONE! sheesh, if you are that mad about it, get a new ipod/iphone! if you are worried about losing all ur apps, they are still bought on itunes. and if you dont want to lose stuff from other games, then i cant help you with that.
(This is my review from the App Store, including feature ideas and some usability concerns I've run into. I couldn't find any better place to post it. I looked for a Mojang, MCPE feedback link, thread etc and couldn't find one. For all I know Mojang pays little to no attention to these boards. Oh well, at least my two cents is "out there" on the Interwebs now :P)
It's an iterative process people, bear with these creative folks. It can only get better, and like the iPad continues to do, it will!
Thank you for this amazing, groundbreaking, super-zen game
In case Mojang is considering any creative requests, here's my two cents (I'll try finding a MC feedback link to send to also):
• Photos:
IMHO it would be fun if it were possible to hang pictures, at least in creative mode, using images from the user's iOS photo library. I was building a chunk-model of my dream house and had the notion that the ability to place personal photos about the building would make it that much more fun to take friends through on a tour (via LAN server connection)
• Music:
I'm very happy that I can already listen to my iOS music library while playing Minecraft! Just as nuance, being able to plop down a jukebox chunk that would allow players to control playback of their music library would be dope
• iCloud:
i.e. seamless, thoughtless, automatic backups of worlds. It's part of the beauty of the Apple ecosystem.
Current reservations (I know it's in alpha, so no points off for my concerns), but FWIW: The double tap gesture for flying up or down was more reliable, in my experience, than the current "slide" implementation. I don't know if the double-tap implementation was conflicting with how some people operated their controls, if so then double-tap may not be the best solution either. But the slide to fly is unreliable, and at times takes me 5-10 attempts to get it to register. And while I don't like split controls (I prefer to tap directly on the spot where I want the block placed), the trade-off is dealing with the pain of accidentally tapping the first inventory item in my strip, and when that's not the item I'm using, it's annoying to have to switch back as often as I have had to.
I know, my last paragraph sounds like all complaints and no answers. That's not my intention. I know usability feedback can be helpful, hence I only wish to aid in improving the game. I wish I had some answers for you guys, but off the top of my head I don't. But that's why you guys get the big bucks ;P
Thanks again for all the hard yet wonderful work on bringing Minecraft to our tapping fingertips!
and that is why androids are WAY better... reasons you can update to any firmware just by flashing it or replacing the rom and you can access the files better and the good androids are much faster...

If I helped you press the little green plus.

Apps will read it as ios 5 even though its 4.2.1 and I overclocked it a bit.
It will no longer boot up and got extremely hot in 10 minutes of gameplay.
1) Apple dropped support for the iTouch 2g and iPhone 2g almost two years ago.
2) These devices do not have the processing power that, say, my iPhone 4S has.
Most people don't use these older devices anymore, so they dropped support. Get a new one. My iPod Touch 2g was $245 when I bought it.
My iPhone 4S 16GB was $299 with a 2-year contract, and a new iPod Touch 4th Gen 8GB is around $230.
A new one is cheaper then what your old one was new.
That isn't Mojang's fault...

And, probably, your just used to that device. E.g
I play on iOS for 2 years, and I love it
I play on ICS for 2 years, and I am used to it...
