Recently, a convention was held in the name of Minecraft that has raised serious concerns about scamming Minecrafters. Bebopvox brings us the latest - this is a must-watch!
Oh no....:/, this is horrible. I hope the people get their money back. There was a poor little boy who got so excited about going to the convention, and he was crushed not knowing what was going to happen next. Poor kid.
Thank you for notifying everyone, I saw a Facebook ad for this one in Orlando and I was skeptical. Mainly because they were offering more rewards than they could have possibly gotten in admissions.

Last year the Bronies(yes the Bronies) had a con that promised them the moon, but ended up being a terrible scam. Even worse, many of the show staff that attended, including John DeLancie, didn't even get paid. The venue also was demanding payment and was illegally charging people with extra hotel rooms in hopes to recover money. Some of the guests even had to start their own charity stream just to help people who were stranded to get home.
That seriously gets me really angry that people would stoop so low to take advantage of the Minecraft community like that. Haven't been here long, but it does seem like a nice community. At least it seems better than some other fandoms at times. Hey wait, can't Mojang sue this guy?
i would like to know Mojangs stand point in this and what they are going to do about it (other then feeling sorry) can they not sue this guy or something (all though i highly doubt anything will come out of that, a gut feeling so to say) since it is not really illegal what he did other then using minecrafts logo and branding. copyright and such i have no idea about. I hope Mojang will come with an official statement about this at some point and i do hope this terrible scamming will never ever happen again!
Surely there has to be some sort of class action lawsuit or something? Please tell me he isn't going to get away with this!

"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best."
What kind of a person would ever do something like this! That poor kid in the video was so excited to go the event, only to find it a complete lie. Some people!
Under UK law at least they could get sued for miss-advertising the event (Basically advertising false information such as not giving out prizes etc) but US law may be different.
I am pretty sure this dude was smart enough to cover most (if not all) bases. according to him it was a "success" even though he "apoligized" for the mess and stuff. it will be their word against his word. I think it would become a very long lawsuit (knowing American lawsuits it could take many years).
Hooooleeey . One heck of a nightmare. They can probably find a good reason to sue this *******.
Doubt it, I live near that location. Matter of fact I attended a Anime/Game Convention that is also poorly organized and had to pay 10 bucks to enter. Kids running, no security, and mostly volunteers on no pay. Various people attacked the facebook of that group.
They still exist today, repeating the same mistake over and over again. Nothing can be done, various people got blocked from their facebook so they cannot post complaints. Police was once called, nothing was done. This is the same thing being explained here. Honestly, the news video and Bebox Video is just meh info, I didn't even need to finish watch either videos to see what was wrong with that picture.
I am gonna be honest with you, that was the last time I ever will attend a convention of any sort unless its an official high-end convention that's gonna cost you 50-80 bucks and is located in places like Orlando/Tampa, and well known. If it is not, you best just stay at home. So, the people at fault here are those that went. They should have done research before attending this place, matter of fact, the group to blame is the parents for falling for kids who love this highly-entertaining game. It's popular and people are not gonna question its social groups.
I smell no lawsuit or anything, this is gonna blow over, its like you bought a crappy 50 dollar video game and it turns out to be crap cause you did not Demo the thing first.
I guarantee you, whoever was in charge of that event, didn't do anything illegal. He bought a site, designed the images, and offered a place. No one is getting sued. Good luck.

Get away with what? Parents not driving to the location before the event, asking the owners of the building if the event is legit? If the person involved has a phone number? Ask the event hoster details? Events are required to post addresses as well as phone number for contact? I see no info in the news nor in bebox that people tried to call, or tried to get information. I don't want to hear "I emailed, but no reply" BS.
My total agreement with Bebop is total. What is, in my opinion, the most despicable thing was the fake famous youtube channel thing. I'm no youtuber, but advertisement is NOT how you get famous. At least Mojang can sue the organisers for using Mojang registered images.
Photoshopping an image and changing it slightly will make it near impossible to really get a lawsuit for that. Besides, the site doesn't exist still does it? No evidence, you pretty much have to reply on someone having a full screenshot/download archive of the site.
I'm sorry, I honestly do not get what you mean by that link. No one is against the photographer. We're against the scammer who did plenty of false advertising, and did his absolute best to take advantage of people.
We don't care if the people should have done more research. The blame is pretty much entirely on him for doing the thing in the first place.
If you don't see that, then your one of those people who sympathize with the corrupt in power and look down on those who make mistakes and fall into their traps. And I'm sorry to hear that.

DIT: OH I see. YOU fell into their trap this time. Because you think those photographs are the only thing that when on. Well, I suggest you watch the WHOLE video over again, and tell me it was what those pictures show.
A lot of people have said "destroy them" - and hope Mojang will at least say something, but...
Here's a thought - I've seen online communities like 4chan do so much - is there any way we can raise money as a community to get these families their money back?
What if we could do it ourselves?
If nothing else, it would make us look really good as a community - I know this kind of stuff scares parents and might make them (however irrationally) want to pull their kids away from Minecraft altogether.
Let's show the world who we are and what we stand for!
I'm too new to the online community to have the power to run such an operation, but I bet CaptainSparklez (his name on the line), Bebopvox, or somebody would stand up and help us help them!
I know it's not like they're poverty-stricken, but I think we should put out heads/servers together and donate to the families - and show them our respect in a way that even Paypal won't and can't.
What a bunch of , ruining that kids dream. Really really really big thanks to this guy for highlighting it all and making everyone aware that Minecon should be the only legit one to be hosted. Others should be banned from happening.

I'm a gamer! I have lots of Lives!
EDIT: Read what Jigglysaint posted, Mojang, and all of the "sponsors" can probably sue.
I'm a pixel artist who makes pixel things and maps! I also do line art occasionally.
I have two work in progress resource packs!
This is the second one!
And of course, by "work-in-progress" I mean "will never, ever be completed".
