This mod"s main goal is to help understand the basic principles of connecting redstone in Minecraft.
Have you ever wondered why a piston was powered while it shouldn"t be, or where to put a redstone light next to a wire in order to be properly lit ?
If so, this mod is for you. If you already know a lot about redstone then this mod is still a great way to debug advanced circuitry, and can be coming handy.
Or if you are a Youtuber and want to highlight your redstone tutorials so they are easy to understand for you viewers.
It may also help you understand redstone contraptions from downloaded maps.
This mod does not modify the behaviour of the redstone, and can be considered as a fair to use for those who want to play vanilla
Works on vanilla servers !
==Installation==
This mod gets installed like most mods :
(windows)

(to open it, search "%appdata"; in the windows search bar)
2) Open it using Winrar
3) Drag in the mod files (the .java files and the terrain.png) you find in the mod folder
4) click OK
5) Delete the META-INF folder in the opened minecraft.jar (if not, you will get a black screen at launch)
6) launch minecraft, and SELECT THE DEFAULT TEXTURE PACK (if not, you will get ugly pink powered blocks)
7) Enjoy !
(OSX)
1) Make a backup of your minecraft.jar in “~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft/bin”
2) Unarchive it
3) Drag in the mod files (the .java files and the terrain.png) you find in the mod folder
5) Delete the META-INF folder in the opened minecraft.jar (if not, you will get a black screen at launch)
6) Delete the existing minecraft.jar, so you can rename the unarchived file "minecraft.jar";
7) click add
8) launch minecraft, and SELECT THE DEFAULT TEXTURE PACK (if not, you will get ugly pink powered blocks)
9) Enjoy !
==Use==
This mod is fairly easy to use. The blocks who get a bright red cross on them are powering blocks and transmit power to any of the 6 adjacent blocks.
Those 6 blocks get a slight red outline in the corners.
This mod also provides a way to understand BUDs (Block update detectors). The pistons can be powered through this block (if it is adjacent to a powered block), however they "wake up»; only under certain conditions (basically if a block is placed adjacent to a piston base, or if water flows by... etc) check out the Minecraft wiki for more information on the subject.
You can toggle ON/OFF the highlighting of the blocks with the added options in the options menu.
Version 1.5 soon !

Yes that would be the next step. However, I am not very proficient with forge modding, and wanted to release a first version to see if people would like it before getting it to forge.
Yes, I'm sorry, but we can't use a custom texture pack with my mod for the time being. I'm working on that. But the main idea behind the mod is to use it when we need to understand redstone connections or buds, You can change your texture pack to default for a short time and then switch back to your custom texture pack when you are done.

The screenshot are up, but I can't really make videos now. I'll try that later.
PS: What's that button down there, in my signature? Cookie Dispenser button?! !
Now I finally understand exactly how redstone powers blocks and so on !
Thanks a lot !
