StorageCraft
Version 1.12
After your long trip mining in a dark and damp cave you return home with your spoils, only to find all of your chests are full to the brim! This could have been avoided had you gotten... StorageCraft!
StorageCraft is currently a simple mod to help you.. store things! It adds three new chest types, Iron, Gold, and Diamond. The iron chest being the size of two chests, gold being the size of three and diamond being a whopping four chests in one! They're very simple to make, just replace the wood in the chest recipe with the material for the chest you desire.
This mod is an open source mod under the Lesser GNU License you are free to use it in any modpacks, however a link to this page and credit would be appreciated, but not required. You may view the source code for this mod on github: https://github.com/x...n/StorageCraft/ you are allowed to download and modify the source code to your liking. I only ask that you give some credit for the original code.
Change Log:
version 1.0:
Created the mod!
Added three chests
version 1.1:
Added Liquid Tanks, holds 8 buckets of any fluid, vanilla or modded (It also will accept milk).
Added Quartz Chest, this chest still cannot be accessed without spawning it in, however it is in a mostly working state if you would like to use it. See Known Bugs for more information.
version 1.12:
Modified Liquid Tanks to save fluid that is inside of them when broken and replaced in the world.
Removed Quartz Chest from the game, decided to completely rework it as I wasn't happy with it.
Download StorageCraft and place in the mods folder within .minecraft
Planned Features:
A quartz chest, this chest will be the same size as a golden chest, however it will have tabs for more item storage, the recipe will likely be four obsidian four quartz blocks and a nether star, the chest will have more storage spaces than two diamond chests (This has been implemented a little differently, but the same basic idea is there)
The Quartz Chest is being put on the backburner for now, I've had a different idea for it so I'm going to try and implement that instead.
Liquid storage, this is one of the key features of the mod and the whole reason I made it to begin with, as I couldn't find a mod with both item AND liquid storage.
More liquid storage options!
Not sure how possible this is, but maybe a new block that turns your items into a fluid which you can store in a tank, and a tank that doubles as a chest that you can pull your items out of after they've been made into a liquid.
Known Bugs:
Some sync issues with the chest rendering, chest may appear to be closed when actually open
Chest that is broken when another player is also accessing the chest will drop all contents, but not close the GUI for other players, chest will appear empty for others, any items placed inside the "Ghost Chest" will be destroy upon closing
To Do List:
Fix sync bugs!!
Add more features!!
Just as a final note, I'd like to thank anyone who has taken the time to read this post, this is the first mod I've decided to release and would appreciate some feed back or suggestions, and if you enjoy this mod please feel free to tell your friends about it!
thats what i was thinking. but who knows. he might make a better, or different one. like my mod. it might seem un original. but now im starting to add other items like food
The mod isn't currently complete, I'm working on new chests, as well as adding liquid storage to the mod, this mod isn't just about storing items, that said in its current state it's very similar to the Iron Chest mod, I'll be updating probably later today with one of the new chests I designed and you'll see some of my new ideas.
I have a few more chests in the works, mainly the quartz (name WIP) that will be larger than the diamond chest, other than that though I don't know if I want to add anymore chests as it would require more block IDs, I want to keep the amount of IDs I use as low as I can, but thank you for your post, and who knows, in the future I may add some more.
Alright! If you intend to download it and use it let me know your opinions on it. Also just a note here, I'm currently working on the liquid tanks, I'm not quite sure how I want to do them yet so I don't know when they'll be ready. Also the new chest I mentioned earlier is near complete. I ran into an issue with it though and am going to need to rethink how to implement it, it isn't available ingame via crafting or through the creative menu but can be spawned in, it holds 504 items total, has 5 tabs (each with 108 slots) and will save any items placed in it, the only issue is that if you want to change the tab you have to click it, close the interface and reopen it. I may release a minor update that includes it so that anyone who wants to can mess around with it. If I do that I'll add a recipe for it, likely costing four obsidian four nether quartz blocks and a nether star.
really no different than the iron chests mod if you changed some stuff or made it an addon to the iron chest mod then that would make it not seem like a copied mod also when you make a mod try to make one that is not the same as another mod.

give it a chance. a mods first release always doesnt have a lot of stuff in it.

I'd just like to say that I am adding a lot more stuff, I've mentioned in my other posts as well as but I'll say it here. In it's current state it isn't much different from Iron Chests, I'm well aware of that, but this is just the first release. I've already started adding a lot more content and I hope to put out a second release later today if all goes well. The next release will include liquid tanks and hopefully if I can get it working properly the new chest.
Hey xandayn, I'm going to test your mod with different Forge versions and Forge mods. I'll say which forge versions and forge mods are compatible/incompatible if you'd like. =)
