Gimlear's Mods Enchantments, Stained Glass, and more!
News:
353blaze has started an LP series using my VHD modpack. Check out the videos here:
Introduction:
First, I would like to say, I am well aware that there are mods out there that do similar things to just about all of my mods. However, I coded all of these from scratch, so please don't accuse me of stealing someone else's code.
Some of these mods require Modloader. Those that do will have "(ML)" next to their name in the list below. Risugami's Modloader can be found here.
All of these mods are compatible with at least Modloader, Zombe's modpack, and Too Many Items. All my mods are also compatible with each other. Please let me know if you find incompatibilities with other mods and I will try to address them if I can.
All of these mods only work in singleplayer. At the moment, I am not planning on porting any of them to multiplayer.
Finally, I would like to thank you in advance for supporting me and my mod making. :smile.gif:
And now, on to the mods:
Very Hard Difficulty modpack v 1.1 (ML)
This mod pack is basically just a compilation of 3 of my mods that I felt worked really well together to provide a challenging yet fun new aspect to Minecraft. Basically, this is just an alternative all-in-one download that includes all the files necessary for all 3 mods along with instructions and some challenges to attempt.
I would love to see an LP of someone using this mod in a newly-generated world and following one or more of the challenges.
The mods included are:
- More Spawners v 1.2
- Rare Mobs v 1.3
- Zombie mod v 1.2
This mod adds a new crafting and/or smelting recipe for turning gravel into flint. With this mod, you no longer have to keep placing and breaking gravel over and over until you get flint, but at the cost of only having half of your gravel be turned into flint or the fuel required to power the furnace.
If you install the crafting version, the crafting recipe is shapeless with 2 blocks of gravel in order to receive 1 flint. If you install the smelting version, just stick a piece of gravel in the furnace like you would any other ores to get 1 flint.
Both versions are included in the downloaded zip file. You only need to install the one you want. You can install both if you want, giving you both the crafting and smelting recipes.
This mod adds monster spawners to the actual world generation. Now your underground caves will be plagued with more than just the occasional monster. Also, tweaks dungeons to give you even more of an incentive to go exploring underground.
This in combination with the Zombie mod will make your Minecraft experience that much harder and more exciting than ever.
Also, there's hidden surprises waiting in the depths of the caves. Can you collect them all?
Note: Even though this mod affects world generation, it does not add any new blocks or items. So your world will be safe to use on a non-modded client.
Pictures:
Just a picture of a naturally generated spider spawner.
Version 1.0
- initial release Version 1.1 (Minecraft version 1.0)
:
- tweaked spawning ratios
- added random loot chests similar to dungeons
Version 1.2:
- updated to Minecraft 1.1
- added stuff to dungeons
Peaceful Ores v 1.1 (ML)
This mod adds 8 new ores that replace the drops from monsters. This allows you to obtain everything in Peaceful that you would otherwise be able to obtain from monsters (with the exception of rotten flesh because you already don't need food). Also, any monster drops that you would normally obtain in the Nether can only be found in the Nether.
Be sure to back up your save games before installing this mod. Because this mod affects world generation, your save could get corrupted if you try to load up a world without this mod. Also, if you want to use this mod on an existing world, you will either need to use zombe's ore redistribution mod or explore beyond the existing boundaries in order for the new ores to appear.
Credit to Shadowolf9696 for the idea for this mod.
This mod adds new rare spawns of the zombie, skeleton, creeper, and enderman. In order for these rare mobs to spawn, you must be on Hardcore difficulty. Also, the rare mobs will all disappear in direct sunlight, so you will have to hunt them during the night or underground. Each of the rare mobs will drop a unique item, which combine to make a super awesome sword of awesomeness.
There are also new achievements to help guide you to the recipes for crafting this new sword, but it is up to you to figure out how to combine these strange new items. I will tell you, however, that you will need at least 1 of each new drop in order to make the sword.
For installation, just drop the oe.class into your minecraft.jar and copy the .zip file into your ".minecraft/mods/" folder.
Known incompatibilities:
- Zombe's modpack (furnace mod only)
v 1.1:
- initial release v 1.2:
- fixed item ID conflict with Kingdom Hearts mod
v 1.3:
- updated to Minecraft 1.1
- enchanting bug should be fixed
Stained Glass v 1.2 (ML)
This mod allows you to make tinted glass by combining dyes with regular glass. You can also make glass panes with the stained glass or dye glass panes. Also, if you smelt glass or glass panes, it will get rid of the color and make it clear again.
Block IDs used: 238-239
The original post for this mod was here, but it is now outdated.
Known bugs:
- Stained glass panes are not transparent like the stained glass blocks. I have a forum post discussing possible solutions for this bug here.
This mod changes the display on the enchantment table so that it displays one enchantment that is guaranteed to go on the item when enchanted. Even though the table only shows one enchantment, there is still the possibility of getting more. I did not change the code for calculating enchantments at all; rather, I used the existing code to show one of the possible enchantments that would be put on the item.
In multiplayer, this mod will still show an enchantment name in the enchantment table, but that enchantment has nothing to do with what you may receive when you choose that enchantment. This is because in multiplayer, the enchantment is picked by the server after you pick the slot.

This mod turns you into a zombie, which (among other things) means that you burn up in direct sunlight. I won't go into great detail regarding all the things I have included in this mod because I want them to be a surprise. One thing I will say, however, is that because you're a zombie, your food preferences will be different.
Basically, this mod adds an extra layer of difficulty on top of the regular Minecraft experience. If anyone has any tips on how to improve this mod, please let me know in the comments below (in spoiler tags please).
Sorry, but there are no pictures because they would either give stuff away or be a picture of the character burning in sunlight.
v 1.0:
- initial release v 1.1:
- it's now night when you first spawn
- fixed potion behavior
v 1.2:
- updated to Minecraft 1.1
Other stuff:
These mods are provided "as is" with no warranty express or implied. You are free (and encouraged) to make videos featuring or using these mods, but please do not attempt to redistribute any of these mods on this site or any other site without prior written consent. If you want to post a link to any of my mods, link to this forum thread and do NOT use adfly or any other service that would allow you to make money off of my work.
Cool! You seem like the person that doesn't use as many tutorials as most "modders". Nice mods :biggrin.gif:
Lol. I mainly used the tutorials to get a grasp of how modding in general works since I've done Java programming before in college. That enchantment mod took me a while to trace all the little function calls here and there and everywhere, though.
I don't usually use mods apart from for my map making but I HAD to get Visible Enchantment, current random system sorta sucks. :biggrin.gif:
Yah, that was really my motivation for doing this mod. Completely random just seems like a waste, but knowing exactly what you're going to get seems like cheating.
Ok, guys. I just updated the Zombie mod and the More Spawners mod to have some extra features. Also, I put up a download for a Very Hard Difficulty modpack. Check it out and let me know what you think!
