Take your standard compass into your hand and USE it to swap between Settings. Each setting can feature different needles, pointing at awesome things like diamonds, Strongholds, the nearest Mob Spawner ...
If the server you are on has it enabled, it might be an Item you have to craft first. The recipe is a compass in middle, with diamonds at the sides (left, right, top, bottom).

Short tutorial, FML VERSION:
Install FML according to it's instructions
Drops the file you downloaded into your mods folder
I reserve the liberty of not responding to posts stating ("It crashes", "doesn't work") and so on unless you provide an error message or log. Read the included textfile.
It could be set to find anything, but nothing except Diamonds and perhaps Monster Spawners is rare enough to justify it.
Good point, I guess.
I like the fact that you're using the regular compass for it, any mod that achieves cool stuff without relying on custom blocks/items is a win in my book.
This information should probably be in the OP, because telling a mod to RTFM is probably not a good idea. :wink.gif:
To answer your question: 7 and 15 blocks respectively.
All is says is
Diamond within a "certain range" and in your height region appear on your standard compass. If there are multiple, it always points to the closest one.

Even one look in the zip answers that question. I believe in common sense.

Make it have other ticks that seek out gold, and monster spawners too.
Gold is common enough to not be frustrating to find. I need to come up with a halfway efficient way of scanning for Monster Spawners yet - they are so rare you literally have to loop tenthousands of blocks, and even the most powerful PCs will feel that strain. Its certainly not going to be on a "per tick" basis.

Oh, and have this, I am going to have like twenty after this.
Do we have the start of a working metal/ore detector here?
Good job. :smile.gif:

I have 16x16 textures so as the readme said use one from the 32bit textures...
and I put in Blockcoord.class and I cant make the compass
Errr. In that case the 32 folder contains a file for 16 textures (such as vanilla) and ill do one for 32 tomorrow lol.
