What has been your worst experience dying? What’s the time when you lost the best items?
For me, one time I was mining gold in the nether, and I was headed back to my portal. There was a medium sized gap over lava, and I didn’t want to use my elytra because I thought I might slam into a wall. Instead I threw an ender pearl, which somehow hit the one block tall side of the platform I was pearling to. I fell into lava, and I escaped by spamming fireworks, but I then crashed into the bottom of the platform and died, and all of my stuff burned. I lost my full diamond armor, my only elytra, around 5 stacks of gold, 4 shucker boxes with other decent - good loot, and around 90 levels of xp. This happened on an smp I play on a few months ago.
I've had a few close calls, but my worst death was in the nether. I had enough of the materials I needed from the underworld so I decided to head home, I was almost at the nether portal, I was over a lava lake when a ghast shot a fire ball at me, breaking the block underneath me, and I fell for about 3-5 seconds knowing when I hit the ground I would fall into lava and die...

I needed some green dye for a banner design so I set out in search of either a warm ocean or desert biome and after an agonizingly long journey I stumbled upon a desert about 8000 blocks away from home... Lo the first cactus I broke caused a block update, opening up a massive ravine in the sand underneath me.. I barely survived the fall but had landed in lava, so without a water bucket I accepted my fate and burned in under a second.
I was on a platform about 50 blocks above the surface and for some reason had my water bucket where my hoe usually is (i was making a farm) and I equipped the water bucket and placed the water on accident which pushed me off the platform to my death.
In my main world (15000+ MC days old now) I've probably died around twenty times, dont think any of them were major catastrophes but i cant honestly remember. I do remember a comical death about 3-4 years back when we had Minecraft running at work during lunchtime and i visited my friend over LAN as we were getting ready to take the Ender Dragon down in his world for the first time. We had geared up and set off on this (rather haphazard) minecart rail line he'd built to the stronghold and we duly went thru the portal and ended up on the Obsidian platform which was quite close to the main island, certainly jumpable. Being the more experienced I just thought "jeronimo" and went for the jump, to my embarassment I missed the island and plummeted to my death. I then respanwed back at his base and had to get some more gear (he didnt have much) and then travel on the minecart line again - this time on a high part of the track a chicken dropped onto the track from an overhang as I was travelling and stopped my cart. I had to get out and kill it, somehow i fell off the track and took a quite a bit of damage, then had to pillar up (as there was no direct way back up to the track) to get back on the line and continue the journey. By the time I got back to the end (where my friend had built a walkway to the main island and was battling the dragon) I was just in time to see the dragon virtually dead, i fired one bow shot and killed the dragon with the last shot, although my friend disputes this and maintains he dealt the killer blow. It was a fun time, and he always reminded me about my jump for a long time afterwards ...
Piglin Brute. Not only I did not remember that shields suck against axes, but also I was totally confident I had a walled corridor on my back, only to get to 2 hearts and felt into lava going backwards while eating a golden apple.
I managed to escape lava but I died from fire, everything unfortunately despawned as I was on a server and the chunks were loaded, so I didn't come back in time.

My worst death....Back then, I just mined my first ancient debris. Then while I was trying to find a nether fortress, I wanted to shoot a ghast that kept annoying me, I missed and got a piglin instead(smh). I raced to my portal, but fell into 2x1 hole straight into lava. Lost all my valuable stuff like enchanted diamond armour and half a stack of diamonds. From that day, I rarely go in the nether. Idk why
Back when 1.14 dropped I had a very strong world going but that all ended after going through the end gateway portal. I believe the issue had to do with world generation but what would happen is that you spawned far out on the end islands and get pushed off. I lost all of my important gear and it wasn't even my fault.
When i was in the nether i finally found a nether fortress so i decided to dig down DIAGONALLY. SUddenly i fell into a hole where ghasts shot fireballs at me and as a result pigmen also started chasing me and then died, the end.
I was livin large in my last hardcore world, I was crawl strip mining, and….. drumroll please! Lava. You can’t crouch while crawling, I was stupid enough to think you could. I fell into a pool of lava, and never died, but left the game, knowing if I rejoined, I would die. Also, idk what to do in my hardcore world. Could u pls like private message me what to do or check out my forum? Forum link : https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-java-edition/survival-mode/3096800-if-what-to-do-in-hardcore
To be fair I never play Hardcore mode cause I don't have the mental fortitude to lose EVERYTHING but flying right into lava in the nether right after getting my elytra definitely made me step away from the game for a little bit.

That’s why I play on 1.16.1. No piglin brutes!

I was mining some obsidian for an enchantment table and then a zombie attacked me and killed me
When you play on community servers, you don't have the luxury to choose your version

one was on my hardcore world, i made a creeper farm and made a water elevator(not a bubble wasn't rich enough) and fell down and died.
every one has had a bad bad death and lost stuff, and i can't think of any more specific but most might be on Bedrock.
Yah, luckily the server I play on started on 1.16.1 and they’ve never bothered to change it.

Yah. That’s a shame. They shouldn’t have added piglin brutes.
