I recently revisited my original Minecraft world. I still consider my primary world. Hadn't been there in months. My thought was to add a new structure at the NPC village I had been 'improving'. Only, I discovered that three pieces of armor and my sword were due for repair. They were well enchanted, with high repair bills. I never created an efficient xp farm in that world. It would take ages to earn needed experience.
That being the case, I decided to convert my old skellie-spawner farm (a simple affair which didn't soften mobs for the kill) into a proper farm with water elevator and 22 block drop. This has been done. I now have no problem getting lots of xp in a reasonable amount of time.
The spawner is very near the surface. I built the elevator and drop-shoot in haste. They are ugly columns of cobble planted in the midst of an otherwise serene forest. I regret that now and am trying to figure out how to disguise the ugliness. No success yet, but something will surely come to me given time.
The farm is reasonably close to my main base, but far enough away that I contemplate adding a cow pasture (leather for books) and fields for cane (books), wheat (cattle breeding) and potatoes (food for avatar). Possibly a temporary pumpkin farm (jack-o-lanterns). The pasture will likely be on the surface. The others might be on the surface or underground.
As to the xp-farm itself, I've already installed an enchanting station and repair facilities. Added storage too, though it needs tweaking. Gonna add a proper disposal unit...those skellies drop lots of stuff not worth saving.
World name: World#2 Started: Alpha 1.2 Status: Main world, re-generating. Resource Pack: Painterly.
My main home started in 2010, in 2012 I decided to regenerate alot of the areas and builds as my building style had changed dramatically. Having done all the "Little jobs", I'm now onto the more bigger tasks.
So this last week I've been making a big push on two things - the underwater/underground minecart tunnel and 2) the apartment block. Phase #1 of the minecart tunnel (Underwater) was done, so in this last week I've pushed to redecorate the walls of phase #2 - the underground tunnel. Instead of using sandstone I've switched to stone-brick and have been smelting cobble like nobody's business, leaving a gap for the colored wool. Whereas the underwater part (Phase #1) was the green line, phase #2 underground to Mount DOOOOooom will be the red line.
With the apartment block, I only did the front in terms of improvements - window shutters (Trap-doors) and window ledges a long time ago. So I finally got round to completing the other three walls.
Last year it had a different roof, all the exterior sandstone walls were just sand, there was no log trim, window hatches or window ledges it was very plain. The left side of the apartments is also an extension that wasn't there originally, it previously just had a ladder up/water-shoot down for access. Now it has proper hallways/stair hallways access.
I've just noticed though, on the top floor not only are there a few window shutters missing it's also missing some log trim around one side on that same level! Better fix that! Sill have to finish off the insides though - better kitchens and bathrooms, furnishings. and finish of the back of the roof.

I've dug out a big room branching off from my farm room with a cow pen and a sheep pen. I did cheat to get some grass blocks (only a few for each pen, the rest were filled in with dirt) so that they could have grass floors.
I have a chocobo (from ChocoCraft) and a pen for it. Her default name is "Feder"; I really don't like that name, so once I have a chocopedia (which is used to rename and command chocobos), I'll definitely change it to something better.
Digging out this underground house has left me with a lot or iron. Even after making some iron tools (three iron pickaxes, shears, and six buckets) and a cauldron for my chocobo pen (a water cauldron is part of a chocobo pen structure which allows chocobos to slowly regenerate health), I still have more than a full stack of iron. I usually have to do a lot of mining to get that much iron!
I have started building some structure for an airship dock. Since I have Archimedes Ships installed in the profile I'm playing on, I kind of want to have airships. The airship dock is accessible from inside my house as well as having a little shed which leads into the structure. I will make the docks branch from a tower with a ledge around it so that hostile mobs can't get to it.
Speaking of airships, I am going to be designing one in a creative world that I have set aside for airship designs and then copying the design using Schematica, which lets you create a "schematic" from the blocks within a given area and then put it into your world so that you can use it as a guide when building it elsewhere. I hope that using a schematic will let me figure out things like the materials and space that I will need to build the ship.
That's the story thus far!

The source of my intention isn't really crime prevention; my intention is prevention of the lie! Yeah, welcome to the Scatman's world!
Started to do some work on the back of my building, ended up running out of obsidian though.
With how much building I've been doing I used 28 stacks of obsidian in two days so far, should only need another 40 or 50 stacks to finish the building though. I also ran out of lapis to make blue/light blue/cyan clay with so I'll have to waste some time trying to find some more of it to use.
Didn't do much building today, spent a lot of my time mining obsidian, collected 58 stacks total. Ended up dying twice while mining in the end which puts me up to 4 total deaths on my world. The endermen kept getting in my way while I was mining, sometimes they would walk around me, sometimes the would teleport in front of me and some would just go next to me and start jumping and spinning around in circles. Occasionally they would attack me for no apparent reason and would run through water to attack me even if they lost 4 or 5 hearts of health from it before teleporting away.
After I got enough obsidian I cleared some more land around my structure so that I would have space to build the right side of it. Currently I've mined up about 22,000 blocks today between stone and dirt.

I really enjoy this building design. Looks very fortified and sturdy.
Today I moved my house to the local village and i'm helping the villagers survive. It's difficult making a wall because half of the village is in a lake, and i have a mod that generates these large towers (battletowers mod by atomicstryker) that can spawn a large group of zombies and other monsters. I also have a mod that allows me to make a protective undead guard (necromancer mod also by atomicstryker). The guard is costly, but I am sure the creature will help greatly with the village's troubles. I'm also finishing the bridges and roads needed to help villagers to get into their houses quickly and safely before the moon rises.
Mined up around two double chests of hardened clay and around six stacks of cactus for cyan clay today. Already used up about 60 stacks of the clay and all of the cactus while building the roof.
Today has been dark. After a day of tending to the farm, I've found that my village has been ravaged. All of the villagers have died at the hand of zombies or died trying to escape. I left the village looking for a blaze rod, in hopes of building a brewing stand and making a potion that will be able to cure the villager's ailments. while on my travels, strangely enough, i found a wandering villager. He isn't a renegade villager from my town (I could tell from trades) so i built a small shelter to save him. Currently, I am making an underground tunnel to the nearby prairie, in an attempt to rebuild. I also set up a small prison around a zombie spawner and I am waiting for an accursed villager to spawn (which I well heal once I get the cure) If anyone has a suggestion about securing my to be found village, please tell me. I don't want the poor villagers to get murdered by those fiends.
Fences around, torches everywhere (inside the buildings as well) and - for the night - block all the dooors with dirt/cobble blocks. This is as safe as you can get.
I think the biggest problem is that the village is in a very wet biome, preserving the zombies. The villagers also had alot of trouble getting in their houses (They were slightly elevated) Anyways, I'm going make a new village with the stranded villager I found. And I'm just going to make a giant box over the hamlet to ensure safety. I'll keep the mines and farms inside so the need of going outside is rare. I'm also going to install a guard tower, and possibly build a musket.
I've finally managed to get the villager to safety. We are currently living in a wooden two story fort. This place looks good for a town, lots of resources.
