First up - Elfland, Elf challenge on Normal:
Okay, so I named it Persephone not Elfland.
Look! It's an entrance!
Walkways. So they really don't *hang*... a sagging effect is rather difficult to do in Survival, rather than creative...
First house.
Second house, the side room is also supported by a tree.
Third house, both rooms supported by individual trees.
Lore room. Has only two book shelves. The lore room will later be used as a entryway to the full library. All of the books of lore will be moved there and this room will become the children's center.
Karak Azgal - Or How I Stopped Worrying and Love the Creeper... "Dwarf Challenge on Easy"
The entrance to the dwarf hall. (Yes, you read that right. Singular.)
And down, down to dwarfen-town you go my lad!
The base of the stairs at level 36. Below 40.
Tree farm! Three fully grown, one to be grown.
Wheat farm. Really, I wish it barley... and the trees should have hops...
The hall of Karak Azgal! ::sighs:: Okay, I need more halls so I can say the dwarfen halls...
Mining shack, sweet mining shack. Wait? Why isn't a shack made of wood? Because only poncy elves use wood as a primary building material, that's why!
See? I use wood. Bed and door.
And the material requirements. The TNT of-course, being the largest annoyance of the group to acquire. I'm going to need to develop a farmable creeper trap at some point to get the 64 for the end requirements...
Human challenge HM is going to be slower than everything else as it is on a friend's server and I don't get to play that daily.
As for the original challenge? All four towers are complete, though I might add trim on the underside of the roofs... Back to mine cobble, grow wood, for my walls...
To do for Human Challenge 1:
- Roof Throne Room.
- Trim battlements, throne room roof and tower roofs.
- Build wall.
- Build stables.
- Roof servant housing.
- Build noble housing.
- Expand island to include new housing.
- Wait for grass to finish growing and tear down the dirt pile to get grass to grow.
- Build access ramp to island.
- Road to village.
On a whim today I decided to pack some stuff and run over to those mountains I found a while back, do some mining there, and see what I could find. Extremely happy that I did because this is what I found:
Spent some time exploring the abandoned mine, though I had a little "help" from this guy. Not sure what his deal was. Just seemed to hang out, follow me around, and watch what I was doing. Would've been nice if he'd at least warned me about that cave spider that tried to get me when I was looting a chest.
Speaking of which, came across this oddity: a cave spider spawner surrounded by web but essentially deactivated by proximity to lava. Ended up only having to fight one of the poisonous bastards the whole time.
Found a good deal of the usual goodies in the mine and two almost-unguarded chests. Of course, the mine intersects a cave system so that always makes it fun to explore.
Phat lewt wut I dun lewted frm de mine:
64 iron ore
5 iron ingots
3 gold ingots
33 coal
95 string
2 red mushrooms
75 rails
368 wooden planks
and 4 melon seeds!
Normally, I'd spend the time completely explore and excavate the mine but, for the sake of the challenge, I think I've got what I wanted out of it already. Going to plant the seeds and get the melon farm up and running. Once that's in full swing, all I'll have left to do for stage 3 is to slaughter some more creepers for gunpowder and set the remaining 4 TNT traps. Just about got this stage in the bag!

Me, Sniper, and the rest of the crew made our own litter server and have been doing the Dwarf challenge. Just want to show a few quick screen shots of what we got going.
I also just realized it shows I have NEI on. Don't worry, you can't use it in the server in case you think we're cheating.
Here's the automatic wheat farm I JUST got finished making!
Check those diamonds out! Sniper found pretty much all of them. I found maybe 12.
My gold collection, I don't want it ever to be used, I want to see how much I can collect.
Now for our xp/mod farms. We have found maybe around 5-6 zombie spawners and 2 skeleton spawners!
That's it for now!
Keep up the good work guys!

I found this challenge a few days ago and thought, "Hey, why not try this?"
So I took some time reading through the different challenges, and decided to just go with the Human challenge. Here are some screenshots of my progress.
The first house, plus the farm.
One night of record farming produced 4 different records. I was happy.
A view of the second house. Made in a different style to conserve resources.
I had some excess wool, so I decided to make a flag!
Bonus: One of the captcha codes ever. Even though it has the captcha codes, I still prefer Tinypic over other image hosting sites. Although Imgur follows in a close second.
Melon crop is going great. In fact, thanks to a massive surplus of bonemeal, melon production was underway almost immediately.
With 12 plants, it took about 20 minutes total to farm a full stack of melons plus some extra.
At this point, there were only two objectives left - build a planning room and plant some TNT traps. Of course, before I could complete the traps I'd have to harvest just a bit more gunpowder from those five creepers, there...
Ooo a cave! I'll have to come back later and poke around a bit in there...
Gunpowder wasn't the only treasure I got from those creepers - one of the dropped another record: "far."
Look at all the beautiful paintings...they almost seem out of place.
There certainly isn't a secret passage to the planning room hidden behind one of the paintings...
Gunpowder collected and planning room built, there's only one thing left to do - make some traps!
First few were pretty simple - dig a hole, plant the TNT, cover, and slap on a pressure plate.
Two down, it was time to get a bit more elaborate. For my next trap, I dug a deep hole. As luck would have it, the hole lined up perfectly with a vertical shaft I discovered while cave exploring earlier.
I planted the TNT & sealed off the top of the shaft with a layer of dirt.
Rinse and repeat for the pressure plate. Anything that survives the TNT blast will have a long, long fall to contend with as well.
Three TNT traps down, I decided the final trap would have more of a PvP feel, even though I'm on a single player game. Verisimilitude again, folks! I started by finding a shallow crater and stacking a few logs.
I dug out a 4-block-deep hole and planted the TNT.
Sand and pressure plate. When triggered, whoever stepped on the pressure plate will drop down into the hole and have a rough time getting out before the TNT goes off.
Of course, sand and a pressure plate are a bit out of place so time to add a little camouflage. Placing leaf blocks around the logs gives the illusion of it being a stunted tree.
Who honestly pays a lot of attention to the ground when chopping down trees? Some poor, unwary sucker would be in for a nasty surprise if they tried to punch this "tree"! Of course, instead of building my own tree I could've just used any of the ones already in the area. But I've got a surplus of leaves anyway.
And that, gentle viewers, completes stage three. Onward to the next objective!
lol I'm sure you've got more. I have 64 bones and 63 bonemeal. Once I have a stack of each I tend to just use any additional amounts I get. It's part of the Plant All Saplings In Existence! movement.
The closest I've really come to mob farming is a deep, dark pit that I hope slimes will spawn in. The dungeons I've found have all be zombies, which isn't even worth building a grinder for, imo, as I have zero use for rotten flesh and just trash the stuff. I guess I did find that one cave spider spawner in the abandoned mine but no real plans to do anything with it as I don't really need string (useless until 1.3 for tripwire since I've got two enchanted bows off the skeletons that I have killed) or spider eyes, either. What I really need is a creeper spawner...automated gunpowder production would be a massive boon for kobolds (and dwarves, I'd imagine).

can you even find a creeper spawner in Vanilla Minecraft?
Sorry for the double-post, but it's time again for a Kobold Update!
Stage Four is going a lot faster than the previous two stages. The most time-consuming part of the stage will be, I expect, gathering all the gunpowder I need to meet the TNT reserve requirement. As it stands, I easily have enough meat on hand to meet the food requirement.
Along similar lines, keeping a few cows in the basement made it easy to craft the required leather armor. One of the stranger things about Minecraft, it seems to me, is that it's easier to get a full set of iron armor than it is leather. Before this challenge I don't think I've ever even crafted a leather chestplate.
Though not required by the challenge, I decided to do a little community development and beautify the city somewhat.
Eighth hut constructed...
...and the planning room has been updated to take this new residence into account.
The majority of my time has been spent coming up with ideas for the additional 10 traps as well as implementing them. One of my favorites so far as been these relatively simple sticky piston snares. They don't kill the mob, but immobilize them so I can deal with them at my leisure. As most of the traps, they're constructed by first digging a hole.
Next step is slapping in some sticky pistons.
The contraption is powered with a dash of redstone.
Then cover everything up...
...and slap on a pressure plate.
The final crucial piece is adding a block above the trap so mobs can't simply hop out. I used the local floral to provide inspiration.
I liked the trap so much I made two. Fortunately, my slime spawning pit in the basement has kept me with a steady supply of slimeballs for all these pistons!
Here's a few pictures of the results:
A creeper playing peekaboo!
Skeletons can, unfortunately, still shoot you when trapped this way.
And another ensnared creeper - play it smart and use a bow to kill the buggers.
Another trap I like is essentially a simpler version of the false entrance piston suffocation trap I built for Stage 3. Start by just digging a hole, placing a sticky piston and a touch of redstone.
Slap a movable block onto the piston and fill in the edges of the hole...
...and then toss in a pressure plate. Done!
Now, I figured this trap wouldn't really amount to much since there's not really any bait. But darned if zombies, at least, aren't dumb enough to fall in anyway! Biggest problem with this trap is that I have to tear up the scenery to get any drops. But I'm not heartbroken on missing out on that rotten flesh.
The last (fourth) trap I built is a drowning trap powered by redstone with trapdoors to keep mobs from escaping. Basically, just a 3-block deep hole filled 2-squares deep with water and trapdoors lining the inner lip.
Here's what it looks like when triggered.
I also added a spillway to collect any drops from the mobs killed by the trap - like this skeleton was supposed to be. I have to be honest, however, and say that I'm not really impressed with this trap and, in fact, I'm pretty disappointed with it. It simply doesn't really work. Most of the time the trapdoors will seal again after being triggered so that mobs walk right over top of them rather than falling into the trap. I can't even tell you how many times I had to repair the damn thing when trying to assist the process by triggering the thing myself and trying to lure a creeper inside. And the one time that worked a zombie wandered by, stepped on a pressure plate, and let the creeper back out! dafuq!? Even the skeleton shown being trapped didn't drown and I eventually had to swim up and kill it myself. I'm planning on redesigning the trap in the near future - at least during Stage 5 if not before the next update. There's simply too much work and too many resources involved in making this hunk of junk to justify its existence.
Intruder kill count for Stage Four (50 total required to complete the stage):
7 Creepers
11 Skeletons
8 Zombies
7 Spiders
3 Slimes
(In short, I still have a lot of work to do for farming gunpowder and I've almost met the mob kill requirements already. Kill count requirement could probably be doubled and it still wouldn't be too hard to achieve given the TNT requirement.)
Yet to do - farm more gunpowder & build 6 more traps.
