I may sound like a noobie, so don't judge me... I haven't studied everything about minecraft (I know almost every crafting recipe and stuff, but not about servers)
I don't know if this is in the right category, but when ever I first join a server and type in:
/warp wilderness or wild
And when I warp there in the wilderness someone comes behinds me and slay me and kills me? Like for example, I want to build a house and someone comes behind me and kept punching me, AND I WAS LIKE 70 BLOCKS AWAY FROM HIS HOUSE! Are they thinking that i'm going to grief, i'm an innocent person and they are going to treat me like this! I read the rules and they said, don't grief and kill people, but this person did. They did this to me on all the servers I joined! What did I do? Do I have to ask the admin's permission if I want to build a house? Because when I spawn in the wilderness, then everyone wants to kill me! Is this supposed to be like Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, where you go outside the cantina, and you randomly fight bad guys and you have to survive... I don't understand this! PLEASE RESPOND! What is this madness!
Well, if killing isn't against the rules, they have no reason not to kill you. Try making friends with people on the server so you have someone you know will not try to kill you and can defend you.
On most servers, people kill on sight, because they are afraid to be killed or they want whatever you have on you. Free stuff! I'd advise moving a good distance away from spawn to deter your house being raided. Also, if you see someone, prepare as if they are going to attack you. Best be prepared for the worst case scenario.

Try to ask to an admin to cover you, in the server I play in there are "helpers" thye can take to a remote location and suite you up for a good start, it's pretty tough sometimes, gotta watch your back, if you really want to you can contact me and join me, that way you are sure to not be killed, I have PvP protection
If ur on a server with pvp u will be killed by players. There will allways be players out there that find it fun to torment other players.
I dont like pvp in minecraft my self and try to avoid it as much as i can.
A tip is to try out servers that dont have pvp on. There are many servers out there that are survival non pvp. I have tryed some my self and some are very good. (Hard to link now as im on mu ipad)
I do remember my first server..... I was pvp and i was killed over and over. I was easy prey as i were new to minecraft. At the end i got banned. The reason were that my death count were too high so i had to be stupid and server did not allow stupid players.....
After that i never played on a pvp server again. And never looked back :-)
I'm sort of a pacifist so I just bring in some invisibility potions when some troll chases me...
PVP PROTIP: I HATE the command /sethome. they can just sneak into your base and /sethome there so when you kill them they instantly re-troll you. A solution for that problem is make a lava pit below where they spawn I actually have 3 lava pits in my melon mansion just for melting trolls you can just remove the pits 2 weeks after you backtroll them and you can ask the server admin to ban the troll long before that...
They tend to attract kill-kill-kill-and-ask-questions-later jerks anyway...
Yes, I found that to be an issue on the server I play on. I fixed it pretty easily. Now that I am one of the most powerful players on the server, if I see people giving new players trouble, or trying to strongarm them into joining their team, I might make a surprise appearance.
Sometimes I can tell when a group plans to raid a new player as they establish themselves. My favourite such instance was when I was perched safely in a nearby jungle tree to that person's house... (arguably, it wasn't very well hidden as one would ideally be on PvP but... oh well). Then 5 players- in iron armour, and iron swords, appeared from one direction and headed straight there. Followed were a few threats- due to griefprevention, they couldn't get inside and attempted to persuade the new player to let them inside through diplomacy.
I had seen them do this before and was nonplussed, so I just enderpearled there and slaughtered all of them. I stared at the new guy, who stared at me for a few moments, then I gave him a gift of 8 Diamond Blocks and a quick "Welcome to the Server :)".
Being strong on a PvP Server doesn't mean you have to be a douche. I find battles with better equipped individuals more engaging and certainly more rewarding than one-shotting people without armour.

Ahh yes, the old classic. People stopped doing that to me, probably because I killed them each time... I was particularly happy with their assistance when they would occasionally forgot they /sethome inside the middle of my base after they had taken a profitable mining trip. It is particularly humorous since there is no escape if they aren't me due to griefprevention and my paranoid use of iron doors.
Invisibility potions cause no end of utter hilarity. In one instance I was spying on a group of players that were my main opposition. They were building some sort of castle around 5KM from spawn. I built a huge tunnel from my own base, which was some distance on the other side of spawn, directly under a mountain where I setup a small command post for observing them. I stocked it with invisibility potions and 'observed' them more closely. My favourite instance was when I sprint-punched a few of them off cliffs, and they started to point fingers at one another. Eventually they found a few glass bottles lying around and figured out it must be me. So (for some reason) one of them decided to also drink an invisibility potion. What ended up happening was one of the others who was looking for me saw his potion swirlies and killed him by accident.
Then I took the stuff he dropped and ran off. This resulted in even more finger-pointing between that enemy group. ahhh yes. nothing like sowing the seeds of distrust!
Minecraft hint #1: If you join a pvp server, expect to be killed by guys with full enchanted diamond armor and weapons the second you leave the spawn/no pvp zone.
And when I warp there in the wilderness someone comes behinds me and slay me and kills me? What is this madness!
It's basically just a different kind of spawn camping. You see it in any PvP game with long distance travel spots like moongates, portals, warps and stuff like that, people will hang around them waiting for easy kills to come through. If you really still want to play there you'll have to get lucky or distract them or something, but I think you should find a server where the rules actually mean something!

One time, i was new to the server, so i built this little shack MILES away from spawn, i literally boated oceans away, these guys tried to tp to me and i was like"why should i" they said that they wanted to be my friends, i stupidly trusted them and let them tp to me, he called his friend and they attacked me, i got an iron sword with sharpness 3 from an admin i helped, and killed them every time they tp'ed to me
this server had a plugin that made it so you get their head every time you kill them, ended up having like 40 of this one guy's head and 32 of this other guy's we ended making a truce but they tricked me and killed me with my back turned. *Leaves server* now i only do no pvp servers.
I've never done a server with PvP enabled except for one of my Survival servers. It was just me and a friend, I forgot to turn PvP off but it didn't really matter since we weren't close to eachother with diamond swords at any single point in the game.
The will never stop trying to kill you. They will steal your stuff, kill you,and grief your base/house.The diamond people rule all servers. There is no way to escape them,so don't run.Just wait for them to kill you in one hit with their overly enchanted diamond sword. They will also hack and do lots of other things to ruin your day.If PVP is enabled on a server, monsters are the least of your problems. If I were you,I would consider making my own server with pvp disabled.
I thought that on pvp servers, spawn points and public warps were in safe zones to prevent spawn killing. If that is not the case, you should talk to the owner so he/sher can make the spawn a safe zone.
Very good armor and a awesome sword.... they eill tun away screaming when they see this. This is something related, how do I get the CREATOR of the server to stop spawn killing me (he happens to be my best friend)? Once, I found 16 dimonds, so I made armor and a Dimond sword, and when I was out hunting, he walked up behind me and killed me and stole my sword and armor... when I respawned, he teleporting to me, and was wearing MY ARMOR and using MY SWORD. He kept spawn killing me over and over again and I could never punch him because he was killing me so much. Any advise?
