Whatever I just said, I didn't mean any offense. Unless we're fighting, in which case I probably did.
If I said something was a joke when it didn't seem like one, I'm making an excuse to avoid an argument I know is coming. Instead of telling me how not funny I am and how it didn't seem like a joke at all, just go along with it. Because flame wars suck and nobody wants to be a part of one.

Default biomes - I like having various resources close, rather than going through 1k+ blocks of Taiga, then another 1k Snowy plains, then another 1k Taiga...

I guess I'm biased because I've always wound up with a plains biome once I run around enough, and then I have a horse.

Guess I'm like the only person on this survival forum that likes Large Biomes? xD
I especially like them for survival worlds. The reasons are simple:
1. I actually like being forced to travel long distances. It gives me an excuse to really use the horses and nether transportation to link up all the interesting areas as they are farther out.
2. It actually takes me a few weeks, sometimes even more than a month to find all the biome-specific supplies I want. This changes the feel of the game and makes it a tad bit harder and more adventurous before I get everything I want near my base.
3. encourages me to build multiple survival bases and take multi-day journeys where I'll camp out when I find a nice area. Reason being I don't feel like hiking back thousands of blocks xD.
Basically, I've just played so long default is routine so it's something else that changes my gameplay style a bit and makes things more difficult for me. Also, all you guys complaining about icy biomes? I love those biomes, it's so fun to live there and have to deal with building with the constant snowfall. Again, something that changes up the playstyle and allows me to experiment a bit, esp. with garden designs. Also they are nostalgic for me because my first game ever I spawned in an icy biome and I remember the struggle of learning minecraft in that biome back in Beta 1.7.

I can play in large biomes and like the idea of larger biomes, however default large biomes are just too large. Even biome size 4 on custom world settings is a little large for my taste. I wish the custom biome size setting scaled up a little more gradually.
Large biomes for me. I like having super large areas to build and being able to stand in the middle and not be able to see the next one. Gives me more like temperate zones here on earth feel.
I'd say it depends on what my mood for the world is.
If I want to settle down and build something nice and detailed fitting to the biome, I'll definitely use large biomes. As for more casual builds, or hardcore survival, I stick to default sized biomes.
Though building a winding path through a thousand block forest sounds quite nice right now.
Well I REALLY WANT to find a Jungle Biome but this large biome world I have seems to be totally void of them. I have made a seed copy and flown a huge area without results. And biome finders do not work on large biomes either.
Large biomes. 50-block biomes drive me crazy.

Large biomes used to be a good idea. Now it's basically the default by the temperature system.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.

Normal biomes, because somehow I always spawn in a jungle or badlands, and don't want to have to go thousands of blocks to get out.
