I finally beat the Hobo Challenge! What I did was I collected a whole bunch of wooden planks, walked in a straight line and placed wooden planks along the way! Once I was done with the 7 days, it wasn't hard to go back. The only hard part of the journey was when I got ambushed by a zombie.
I don't know how to post a picture on the forums, so I'll just send a link to it.

This is pretty much what I do every time I go adventuring.
No doubt, this challenge is still rather clever.

My avatar-Madison Gotha. She knows various weapons, she's a mage/sage, and is somewhat immortal. Madison has the capability of taming and communicating monsters, a genetic trait passed down by her father. 26 physically, 1400-something mentally, and a Lofty Peakian/Zenithian mix. Doesn't really like being called an elf and hates being called human..
I might be Moderator, but don't bother treating me too special. And don't make tons of Ban Hammer jokes, please. Also, I'm an Off-Topic only Mod. Don't ask me to lock a thread or something if it's not in the off-topic
I have played this before, it took me 21 minecraft days to get back to my house. At least i know more about leaving my home. My home was in the bottom right corner of the map, and i was in the top left. Wow.
hey you, yeah you! I support....... Colored wood products!!!!
Theoretically speaking, if we are an advanced player with the survival capabilities, I don't think it will be difficult to complete this challenge. Knowing the goals of the challenge, we would obviously leave a trail to mark our path as we go. With that, we would be able to easily traverse back home.
Maybe add in the part that your health will not regenerate unless using potions or golden apples, and the crafting recipes of these items would be upgraded to using gold ingots. That would toughen it up.

Don't argue with idiots. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Challenge complete! It took me two tries. (Which I guess isn't that bad considering it was my first time playing on hard ). My first try ended when I learned the hard way not to dig a hole in the ceiling of a cave when you hear what sounds like 200 zombies above you. My second attempt went quite well. Just like Sapphiresin said, I believe this challenge is not very difficult if you possess good survival skills (unless you get really unlucky or do something stupid). Overall, though, it made for a good time and gave me something new to do in my singleplayer world. Thanks to Zelda311 for posting this challenge and his friend for thinking of it!
Ha! Challenge completed. Well, not on single player but on multiplayer. I never had friends on multiplayer as they all slaughter me, I never use bed and had never crafted it, and I made too many homes that I lost track, most of them are in pieces, though.

I'm the ruler of Darkness. I feed on your fear and Nightmares. If you are a member of us, the Creatures of Darkness. Perform Pandanomium Paranoisa
I started a new world. Made a simplistic "house" to come back to.
At dawn, I left the house with nothing, and headed due west.
My new world actually made this a bit more challenging than many worlds I've played in. This one had a LOT of thick forests and large mountains.
Anyway, after surviving 7 nights, I turned around and headed back. Made it back "home" in only 4 nights. (found a saddle in a village, and redstone on night 7)
On my 7th night, I covered the screen with a piece of paper to block the coordinates from my view. Hit F3 and then hit F2 to take a screen shot.
After making it back home, I compared the coordinates. I ended up more than 10,000 blocks West, and surprisingly only about 10 blocks south.
Sometimes, my girl and I play a game where we don't acquire a bunch of stuff, and we don't build any houses. We eventually just acquire the gear we need to survive and work on the move (crafting table, furnace, wood, stone, dirt, torches, coal, food, tools, a bed), travel all day, and hole up for the night. At night we either sleep and keep going, or cook up all of the ore/food we collected over the day, or maybe do some mining, then move on.
It's pretty fun. We also tend to stop at villages for a while--might stay there a few days before moving on again.

I used to have a good signature, but it got nerfed.
I Did it I Winned the Challenge
You made your first post a year+ necro just to say you won (it's won btw, not winned) a challenge that is, honestly, pretty simplistic?
I finished the challenge two player with my friend. We survived all seven nights. This was interesting and I am happy i did it.
Ok, I know... Fairly old topic.
Anyway, completed challenge in Hardcore mode.

Any fun quick challenge.
I can't believe people are still replying to this thread
I probably should do this challenge since i'm probably going to be a hobo since I'm doing bad in school.
Similar to what I call my 'nomad' games.
