So I recently dismantled a desert temple entirely to harvest its sandstone, and dug a stepped pit underneath where it stood to harvest as much additional sandstone as possibly from both the treasure chamber and the structure's foundation.
I got a bunch of sand, which is great, a bunch of cobble, which is great, a bit of orange wool, which is okay I guess, and my sandstone stockpile is now overflowing, which is awesome. Unfortunately I'm also left with a large and very unsightly stone and sandstone hole in the ground in the middle of the desert, roughly in the shape of an inverted pyramid, 27 blocks wide at the lip, 5 blocks wide at the bottom and 12 blocks deep.
I could always just fill the pit in and cover it up, but that would be A ) boring and B ) a lot of blocks spent on something nobody would ever see. I'd much rather turn it into something cool. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything cool to turn it into. So I'm asking you guys for ideas. What do you think?
I'm saving my sandstone for a different building, btw, so I'd rather not have to use much of that. Its kinda hard to get without tearing up the landscape. There's always a second desert temple I could dismantle if I need to get more, but that would just leave me with another giant hole and I'd be right back where I started.
Turn it into an archeological dig site. Use a little bit of that sandstone up. Make some tents with wooden tables and chairs like work areas.
I actually feel that both of these seem like great ideas, although the archaeological dig site might be better just because there was actually a structure there previously.

Put water in it and turn it into a giant whirlpool that when you go in it leads to a cool underground base or something. Maybe it could be used as a giant mob a trap so if you put water in if the mobs fall in they go to an underground mob grinder or factory.
Its too far from my base for mobs to spawn on a reliable basis, otherwise that would be a good idea.
