Yes, I'm well aware of that meaning of the word 'Lag'
but when it comes to Computers and Hardware, 'Lag' directly refers to 'Latency' which is ONLY possible when playing online.
Offline its 'Low fps' not 'Lag' No matter how many wrongly informed people and ill-educated kiddies seem to think so.
Cool story broskis.
The point is that the recent patches, even with their "fixes" need to get sorted out. 1.7.3 was bad enough. Then 1.8... Oh god the horror. And now with pre-releases out by the second, no-one is currently working on FPS mods. It's hard to play for some people who can't afford better computer parts. And others who got amazing frames are getting standard frames.
I play on tiny with everything turned off and optfine turned on will only 32 fps max. I call my dad to look and see if he can make minecraft run much fast and better, after an hour of cussing and swearing my dad figured out how to fix one of minecrafts most basic problem. A couple weeks later and he gets an email from notch telling him that "That problem was bugging me a lot but I tried it out and it worked fine, even better then before. I'll see if I can get this ready for the next update or maybe in one of the new pres." Problem solved now wait about two weeks or wait a week. I'd prefer the week because when that week is up I probably would have lost the small amount of life that I have.
i basically just recently bought an AlienWare powerhouse that should handle anything the world can currently throw at it, YET, 1.8.1. is very choppy for me. basically, when i move, the entire world is choppy... -- Is there a way to fix this? i've tried changing the priority in the memory, dropping the video settings to almost nothing, yet it's still very choppy... is there something i can try?
oh yeah... i currently (using F3) get about 175FPS, yet it feels like i'm getting less than 20...
thanks!
Max
1.8 runs horribly on all computers, my friends alienware says it's running at 212, when it looks like my laptop (8 fps)
i was wondering if anyone else has problems with lag in 1.8
i have always had a little bit of lag here and there but now i cant even play its so bad
why is this?
how can i prevent lag? i already run gamebooster but i dont think it helps
please help i will become a creeper if i dont play minecraft
I am on a mac and on 1.7 without optifine I was getting 80+ frames and with optifine I was getting around 40 frames and they were both on high graphics and on the 1.8 snapshots I'm getting like 14 frames like every time load chunks like in the nether and in the over world when I have it on far if you play with full setting right now I would suggest turning you render distance down to normal and if it is already lower and you are still getting lag turn it down lower. I am expecting dinner bone to fix this it isn't normal to lag this much on minecraft and I'm pretty sure it is like the last time for him to do anything he has to recode a crap ton of lines to make it smoother and Im thinking he hasn't done that yet for this update and if he doesn't well... all of us will need to wait until optifine comes out.
Hem, if you hadn't realized, they're talking about the old 1.8, not the current, and it's probably just your PC
it is not i have a very good computer it takes an extreme computer not to get these lag spikes and even then it still has lag spikes not as bad but still pretty bad so...

I've got a laptop that sits somewhere between average and high end, and my Minecraft runs fine. So, I have reason to believe that it is your PC.
Also, your problem being about the 1.8 snapshots does not give you a reason to necrobump a thread about Beta 1.8.
