This project leveraged everything I learned from New Pacifica City and Nereus. It was a collective effort from the start, involving most of the old Nereus crew (who are responsible for most of what you see in the video and screenshots) in a custom map that is 100% ocean, 200 units deep. Absolutely everything was done legit. The glass comes from sand harvested from the seafloor. All other materials came from the mines, tree farms or some other in situ supply.
Anybody is welcome to come visit as a tourist (cannot place or break blocks) using the IP 'damnation.eu'. Simply join that IP, then in the console type "/warp nexus 4" to be taken to the room with a portal to our flooded world in it. In order to place/break blocks you'll have to register on their site (same as the IP) and follow the instructions. They make you jump through some hoops to prove you're not an idiot, as it improves the overall quality of experience you get when you play on their server.
If you do join, you may either become a colonist of one of the three large colonies so far established (NES-64, Triton, or Obeith's colony) or you can set out on your own to build your private settlement, which you will have full control over. In either case, please build only if you feel confident that you're skilled at constructing attractive, well thought out undersea structures and have a lot of prior experience with this under your belt.

video looks good, a little dark in some places.. I also like how you add information on real life underwater bases.... I've built bases partially underwater, mostly on my island world (link in sig), but nothing to this extent... good job.
Wow. I might visit, all that looks really cool. Not particularly into underwater stuff but what you guys have going on is definitely the way to do it right.
What a truly epic build. I flipped a coin on having a Sky or Sea as my largest primary base, and decided on the former. I will have to look into this for creative ideas on how to "spruce up" my underwater mob spawner base.

Wait a tick. This is undoubtedly a stupid question, but if the map "is 100% ocean" and "absolutely everything was done legit," where do you get the trees from which to build tools to dig the sand, build the chests, etc?

As you can see in the video, there are the bare rotting remains of trees all over the place. The whole map is not actually ocean biome, it is intended to be the remains of land which have been flooded for many years. You can simply harvest those for the wood you need to start out with. Stuff that's actually impossible to get to start with like seeds and livestock eggs can be bought from the item shop at spawn. When I said "it was done legit" I was referring to the construction of the city itself. All of the materials were mined/harvested manually from naturally occurring sources.
Me and my friend are seriously considering joining this project... I was highly inspired by your New Pacifica post to build a bit of my underwater colony, however it died due to half incompetent team-members and a server reboot. I hope there are no age limits. Me and my friend are teenagers but most big projects only want 18+ staff. I hope to see you soon!
P.S. Sorry for long, rambling post.

Damnation.eu does have an 18+ age limit but exceptions are made if you're cogent and responsible. Part of this is jumping through all of the hoops in the registration process without complaint.
That is easily one of the most impressive and beautiful things I've seen in Minecraft. Makes me wish I could stick to a project long enough to make something similar. I'm glad to see you're still building underwater!

Great work. It's good to see others doing some serious underwater builds. I've been working quite hard on a major underwater world in Survival Mode on the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft using a seed that is 99% water. The only thing above water level on the entire seed were a few mushroom islands and an island with a little grass, 3 oak trees, and some sugar cane. But that's all I really need. I don't need birch, spruce, jungle, cacti, lily pads, vines, or snow, none of which exist on my seed. I'm certainly envious of you having water so deep to work in. On the Xbox 360 version, the ocean biome (which is the entirety of my seed) is only about 15 blocks deep. In any event, you have some really inspired work. I'm planning on watching the video in more detail later for new ideas in underwater construction.

1.7 adds the deep ocean biome. Of course it's all gravel so you have to head for shallower water to harvest sand but an enclosed rail tube for getting between the normal shallow sandy ocean biome and the deep sea biome where you intend to build would solve that.
Query--why do you begin the video alone in the ocean? Is that where new players spawn? If so, why not build at spawn to avoid having to get "wet"?
No, the initial spawn of the map is a small enclosed dome with the very basic starting resources - saplings, seeds, grass floor, I think some wood, not 100% sure. We've since moved the spawn to a better and larger location, which you can see in the video. It's meant as a neutral location, where players can get their feet wet before joining one of the colonies or venturing out by themselves.

Haha, kinda. I was thinking more along the lines of Submarine Titans, my favorite RTS.
