personally, I feel as though they should add bushes. Blueberries, grapes, and strawberries should be the stuff that grows on bushes and they grow in the wild so once you start a new world you scavenge for grapes or something rather than slaughtering the first pig in sight for meat.

Thats a good idea. However what I've noticed is that after early game when I have made a cow farm I find myself ignoring all other sources of food because of it having a lower saturation then steak, so other food just kind of sits around in my chests.
If the game had other benefits / consequences for eating different types of food, for example if eating the same food type repeatedly filled your hunger bar and saturation less and less each time, or if certain foods have a chance to give you buff or had other uses in crafting, then I would love to see more stuff like this added.
Another thing, to expand on berry bushes, they could act like a cake block where you click on it and eat immediately, and after a few uses it runs out of berries and needs time to regrow
