Love hearing about pets! It's fun to keep companions in the game, maybe go on adventures with them or make up stories or personalities for them.
I have several pets on a server. Or had in some cases. In a town called Frostridge, there was Biter the milk cow who lived in my butcher shop. When the town was abandoned, I tried to take her home through the Nether but unfortunately she didn't survive the journey. I loved that cow.
I also have Marie the IV. Or maybe it's the V by now? Original Marie was purchased along with her husband, Henry, from a fellow player who was removing her ranch and threatened to slaughter the pigs if no one bought them. So I did, and tried to take them home. Henry didn't make it but Marie did. I think Original Marie disappeared into limbo when I tried to take her through a Nether portal.
Recently, I had to bury my first mule I've ever had, Caprichoso (Capi for short). I liked to ride him around spawn, and if I had to stop to enter a building I'd tether him outside. He got loose due to that disappearing lead bug in multiplayer, and I thought I had lost him. A friend brought me a new mule who was faster and had more hearts, but it just wasn't the same. By a stroke of pure luck, I randomly found Capi wandering in a cave several days later, unscathed. I was so happy!
When we had a public stable up and running, I decided to put Capi and the new mule together in one stall. I thought they would be safe. I felt that the new mule was jealous of Capi but hoped they'd get to know each other and be best friends in no time. Sadly, that was not the case.
This jealous mule, whom I named Hera after the fact, pushed Capi into a wall and he suffocated to death. I am still grieving for my lost friend, but I can't put all the blame on poor Hera. I did give Capi more attention, and I'm sure she didn't think animals could still glitch into walls and die.
Oddly enough, I rarely keep dogs or cats as pets in Minecraft. I've tried, but they just do buggy things that cause accidents.
I really only had 1 world where I saved animals and it was the Server I play on. I saved one chicken from the horrors in the forest and named him sir cluckington. One day Sir cluckington got out because I left my door open and it took me 3 minecraft days to find him. I also had a pig I named MR.Bacon because I was afk in my iron golem farm and when I came back he made it past the lava blade and was just looking at me when I came back. I thought it was the funniest thing ever so now he runs the iron golem farm when I'm gone. Last but not least I have a black cat who I named MR. MEow because he never shuts up.
