Hi. I play on a pvp server, and I wanted to find diamonds. Most of them have been used up by a faction, but
what is a easy way to get diamonds? I've seen the videos and stuff.
I found going to y12 dig in one direction 2 squares high and then branch off that main tunnel every 3 squares so there are 2 squares between each tunnel. When you dig down another level make it 2 squares between floors. This way all squares are exposed with minimal effort.
Y: 1-16 diamonds spawn. You can branch mine them, there are usually at least one per chunk. I carve a underground base of operations underground and got 14 diamonds doing it. The branch mine idea at 12 is common, this is a few other ideas.

Branch mining at y=11, or else set up a villager farm and trade wheat/paper for emeralds, emeralds for gear.
Mobs have a hard time spawning in my server. The reason is because that faction possibly has a spawner. There can be onlyso many mobs in one world. Villagers are a good idea though. Thanks for all the support!

Actually, theres McMmo, (if you ever heard of it), and I have a mining level of 640. That triples the amount of mining drops I get.
I belive it was pheonix, or something close to that, who showed that branch minning at 14 is better. At 14 you have the highest chance of lapiz luzi while retaining the same chance of diamond. Of course if your just aiming for diamond ignoring lapiz luzi is faster than digging it out so 12 is better. Bellow 12 you hit lava lakes and bellow 8 you start hiting bedrock.
No I mean 11 (feet level, that is; eyes = 12.6 -- I'm pretty sure that's what people have meant all along when they used to say "level 12.") There, the ground you are walking on is level with the tops of the lava lakes. No (or very little, rather) lava will come pouring into your tunnel from above, because it's all beneath you (aside from stray source blocks or the occasional higher-level small pool) and there are no pits to fall in because they're all filled with lava. A water bucket poured out at your feet turns the lakes into nice, safe obsidian floors, and they're perfectly level with the ground you've been walking on already.

I covered a lake of lava with cobble, found nothing under it.

If you mean no Obsidian the water has to pour from an elevated position and not directly from your bucket or dropping any type of stone into the lava. At least I found that I need to dump the bucket of water on an edge and let it flow down.

Diamonds don't occur near lava more often than anywhere else, that's just a misconception. What does happen is that the lava occurs near open caves, because of how lava generates in the first place (first the game generates the caves, then fills in everything below level 11 with lava), and the walls of those caves reveal more exposed rock than a tiny tunnel. Ore blocks (including diamond) make up a certain set percentage of all stone at the appropriate levels, so the more stone you expose via cave walls, the more ores are exposed along with it. Ultimately, however, this can actually lead to less diamond collected overall since, while the veins themselves will be easier to spot, they may be missing some ore blocks which were removed when the cave was carved out. In the long run, you're still better off just digging a straight 1x2 tunnel through the solid rock.
You probably won't find any. I mean, seriously, wouldn't you hide if you knew there were a lot of people after you just so they could hit you with a pickaxe? Now you know what it feels like to be a diamond.
y=16? That's the highest layer available. You won't hardly hit any diamonds there. I prefer to dig at y=12(feet pos-yes, I mean 12, not 11)
and branch mine.
Mining: a game strategy that depends on luck. Sometimes you find nothing, sometimes you find something and sometimes you got overloads on metals. My mining technique is just start a kind of quarry mine on the layers 11 12 and 13. You got overloads of stone but place some furnaces and take buckets to empty lava pool source blocks and use them as fuel. That also gives you experience orbs.
Just remove the whole layer cuz with strip mining I passed diamond 2 times. And when you get across a cave fill it with lava and put water over it .

and branch mine.
Unless your server has some sort of mod that does that, this is false.
Only so many mobs will spawn in a given area, but if you remove them with water/pistons and take them to a collection point, more can spawn.
So no matter how many mobs your faction has, it shouldn't affect spawnrates elsewhere.
