ZOMG!!! WIll the amount of loot be affected it u built this on smp?:biggrin.gif:
You'll get items at a constant efficiency regardless of the specification of your PC.(CPU & VGA etc...)
......as long as your PC survives this heavy load XD

Sorry. I cannot check forum on account of being busy.
What suprises me the most with these lab traps is that they seem to get more and more effective the less spawning surface you have in them. In my trap I now get a cluster of 4 mobs more often than not and it takes a few seconds before each one start the travel to their death. The thing that supprises me is that it seems to be more effective to spawn one mob at a time and then kill it "instantly".
Manually building a trap in a "real" world is very time consuming and all sense say you can't cover 17x17 chunks, so I still believe that if you carve out 50x50 blocks in a mountain you should try to design it so that as much as possible is spawnable surface while you still kill the mobs within a few seconds.
I am a girl who has a strange fetish for villains from video game franchises. If you have a fetish for dressing up as one, gimme a PM.

I see. It's reasonable that you have doubts about it. Thank you.
I had to compare for a part of conditions.

[ verification ]
The value of "ALL" means the total number of loaded player(s), mobs(included animals) and dropped items.
So I tried to test leaving the player character for 5minutes with the next artificial map.
= 1 chunk (filled with stone blocks from top to bottom)
= 1 chunk (hight 55~70 nature map without water)
As a result, it has been remained unchanged as "ALL=1".
It suggests that there was nothing but a player charactor.
I think that the maximum distance of spawning conditions is not different between beta1.2 and beta1.3.

This is a part of Biofactory2 blueprint. Red lines is chunk borders.
The collection point was placed the center of a chunk for efficiency.
Thank you.

The whole inventory was packed with stacks of 64, plus an odd 9 (yes, I failed a bit there), in 3 minutes.
that is 9*4*64 = 2304, +9 = 2313, *20 = 46260 ...?
Interesting.
I fear meaurement error.
If possible, please verify in the same way I tried. (difficulty shift for 15 minutes and collect all items)
And let me have a look at savedata.

just one small problem (i feel it a problem >.>), you removed all spiders.. and string is the only usable item from a mob trap (yeah yeah TnT is nice to), but string is wool!
arrows? to shoot? boring, sword is what real men use to kill.
Feathers? to make more arrows? the most useless item ingame atm.
and bones? to grow tree's? time grows them for me!
Now if you can make a mob trap that just spawn spiders, then you will have something to be happy about!
atm finding a spider spawner, making a simple trap = win!
If your in SP that's fine, but this would be very useful in SMP (espescially PvP servers...I can already hear my massive TNT stores destroying the forts of my enemies >:biggrin.gif: )
IT ISNNNNNNNNNNNNNNT!THIS IS FACTORY OF MOB ITEMMMM!
okay,ill give u
Thank you for your comments :biggrin.gif:
Less than 2x2x2 spaces. Because the spawning spaces are like this:

Simple. It's fun.
Same answer as any one of the computer-makers in Minecraft will tell you.

I had the idea of having a checkerboard like pattern to stop spiders spawning but never implemented it.

Notch would certainly approve

YES!! You have surely an cool observant eye!!
I think that logistics technics(to cut down excess stock) is one of the most important matters.

Also, nice job on this, it's really cool.
