Hi guys, i hope someone can help me out!
I've deleted some unused overlord overworld chunks in (the old) MCEdit. Then i saved the edited world and started playing in it again.
After building some i went to my gold farm on top of the nether roof (the donut design) and noticed i get almost no spawns. (only 3, maybe 5 if i fly around)
Same with my guardian farm, not a single guardian in sight.
My renderdistance is on 19 so that shouldn't be the problem.. im in survival to (hard)..
Overlord? Is that a mod or a misspelling of Overworld?
Are mobs spawning normally otherwise?
For the gold farm are you going up over level 200 to cut down on spawns under the roof?
Check the debug screen to see if mobs are spawning somewhere else.
(Press F3, check the number after "All:" on the fifth line, if it's much higher than the number of zombie pigmen in your farm you probably have mobs somewhere else (unless your Nether is full of minecarts or drops or something.))
For the guardian farm the only thing I can think of is maybe the world got messed up so it is no longer counted as an ocean monument, if you have a backup check if the seed has changed.

Hi Hexalobour thanks for taking your time to reply!
That overlord was a misspell
The gold farm is above 200 and worked great before messing around wit MCedit. Ive been looking at the debug screen and no mobs are spawning at all. it stays on 20 when im at the gold farm and no new mobs spawn..
Im away visiting my mother for the weekend so i can get to the backup.. If i have any news i will replay immediately!
what is the local difficulty at on your debug screen?
That doesn't matter because difficulty has no effect on spawn rates or the mob cap - it only affects things like the gear that mobs spawn with. In fact, it would be extremely hard to change rates with difficulty because the game tries to spawn a pack of mobs in each of 225 chunks around the player every single tick - 20 times per second - that's 225 x 20 = 4500 spawn attempts every second (with 4 mobs per pack so that's theoretically 18000 mobs spawned per second, provided that the mob cap has not been reached and every attempt succeeded). Many servers (Spigot) even greatly reduce spawn rates in order to improve performance and this only has a noticeable effect on mob farms, which try to get the maximum rates (the average lifetime of a mob due to despawning is about a minute so to maintain a cap of 70 only about one new mob needs to spawn per second).
The only thing that I can think of is that MCEdit somehow affected your world but I can't see how it would since the spawning mechanics are internal to the game; as mentioned by others, do you see mobs elsewhere (at night or underground)? What about mobs from monster spawners? Those should work regardless of issues with natural spawning (e.g. render distance, though you said it is 19 - but are you in singleplayer or on a server? The server's view distance is what matters in the latter case).

Just testing.

Are you seeing normal mob spawns when you are away from your farms?
Any squid in the guardian farm?
You could try turning out the lights and see if zombies and skellies spawn in the dry parts.
Either would indicate that it wasn't counted as an ocean monument any more.
Just testing.
i just saw a guardian so its still a monument. but only one, they used to spawn like crazy.
same thing for the nether roof gold farm

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
I do see mobs spawning here and there (caves and at nighttime), spawners work like they have always done and im on single player
