I traded a bit, got the love hearts then went afk for about an hour about 40 blocks away in the little fishing just you see in the backround. It's happened twice now. The farmer just stops farming. Any help would be appreciated. Am I just forgetting something?
I'm pretty sure it's the zombie you have in the middle of the farm. I think the "ooh, look, a tater! Get it!" process gets trumped by the "Eeek! Zombie, run away!" process. I don't think villagers or zombies need line of sight to detect each other.
Why it's even breeding at all probably has something to do with your trading efforts moreorless forcing the issue. Trading is one of 2 ways to get villagers in the mood to breed, the other is to feed them.
The zombie is how the farm doesn't break and a similar design with the zombie is used by TangoTek, ImpulseSV and Xisumavoid on the Vanilla Hermitcraft server to great effect so I don't think it's that. It's so that the babies don't get caught in the farm when you move more than like 20 blocks away.
OK. So there are doors at the houses in the back but thats at least 40-60 blocks away. The villagers were being stored in that pool, but ive now changed that so they fall around about 8 blocks into another pool. Is that what you meant?
Yeah, it's hard to tell but it looked like the pool was too close to the "village", the doors and lonely villager guarding them.
8 blocks further down should be fine.
If there are any villagers by the houses they could be a problem since a village can be up to 66 blocks across, but since the villagers in the farm bred once and stopped it's more likely to be the holding pool.
To clarify, as I understand it the babies aren't counted in the population, it's when they grow up that they would cause problems.

A villager counts toward the population the instant it's born. Babies are villagers, and count toward the cap.

Where are you sending the babies to get them out of range of the "village"?
If it's that underground pool to the right they'll almost certainly be counted as part of the village population and stop the breeding.
I think they have to be at least 6 blocks above or below the doors or 33 blocks from the center.
Three doors will only support a population of just over 1.
Any doors and villagers over at the houses in the background? If so haw far away are they.
Just testing.
