I dont want to build a XP farm or anything. I was just hoping someone could tell me what the best way to get quick and easy XP without making a giant farm.

I will troll life, and live forever. Quote me on that.
I just go into the nether and farm pig men. With iron armor a few iron swords (and food o course) I can handle between 10 and 15 pigmen at a time.
It's easy because they usually spawn in large groups right next to each other. they don't hit hard and as long as you don't walk backward into lava/fire they only take 4-5 non-crits to kill. 3crits usually takes care of one.
If you decide to use this method, I have invented an interesting tactic which requires some Soul Sand. Just make a huge platform of Slow Sand and attack a pigman with others around. Run to your platform of Soul Sand and the pigmen will rush towards you but when they get to the Soul Sand, they will slow down, making it easier for you to take em out one by one.

You could go to the End and make a 1x4x1 block spire (after you have killed the Ender dragon) and look at all the Endermen you can see. Then just spam left click when they are all bunched up below you.
1. Get a stick.
2. Do "/powertool spawn 5 spiders".
3. Left click with the stick a bunch of times.
4. Bombard them with harm potions.
5. Drop down and collect the XP.

Just mine every coal you see on hard difficulty. The mobs that spawn will give an added boost. This way gives you useful items as well as XP for your time.
If you don't want to make a large contraption, then wandering out at night and killing a ton of mobs for one enchantment (which could fail horribly) is your only hope. Because there's a chance, and a fairly high one, of getting bad enchantments, I would set aside a bit of time to make a Endermen farm so you can actually get good enchantments. If you change your mind, just do a Youtube search of "Endermen XP Farm" and click on one of the top links because from what I can gather, Endermen farms are the best.

the fastest way is below ;
- Kill the ender dragon to get 100XP
- kill the wither to get 100XP
- "/gamemode 1 [nickname]" and throw XP splash on you.
these are the bests ways on my point.
1. Get a stick.
2. Do "/powertool spawn 5 spiders".
3. Left click with the stick a bunch of times.
4. Bombard them with harm potions.

My way is to go into the nether, find as much Quartz as I can, mine it, and because they give you a lot of xp and they come in bunches I find that the easiest way, and quite easy way of getting xp.

This is also what I do; each ore gives an average of 3.5 XP, so that adds up pretty fast since the veins are almost as big as coal veins (around a dozen ore or 42 XP per vein) and are exposed everywhere (the Wiki even notes this is faster than a basic mob farm, and without the investment to build a better one, especially for a one-time affair). Of course, you'll eventually mine out all of the easily accessible ore but by then I'll have all the enchantments I need and thereafter only have to repair items (hence why mob farms aren't worthwhile for me), for which I get plenty of XP from normal gameplay* (basically, the enchanting table collects dust, the only things enchanted after this are diamond shovels at 1 level, which I don't bother to rename or repair other than in the crafting grid).
Adventure underground. Between the mobs and coal you'll dig up you'll be rolling in xp.
(interesting fact - the pickaxe I use for mining costs 37 levels or 1406 XP to repair and it can mine 1560 blocks per repair, so even coal, which averages 1 XP per ore, actually gives a net surplus of XP; then include mobs and other ores (probably around 1/ore overall, mostly coal and iron, sometimes a good amount of redstone, comparable to quartz, though if the cave is mostly near bedrock, but I kill at least a couple hundred mobs per play session for over a thousand additional XP; total XP per play session is around 4000-5000)
Also, this is an old thread (necro'ed more than once).
You can try going into the nether and mining nether quarts (preferably with a fortune pickaxe). You should probably be aware of hostile mobs and lava while doing this, unless you like to get killed.
2. Wait till night time.
3. ???
4. Profit.

Making giant things is part of this game's charm!

For legit, I'd recommend mining quartz from the Nether. Just don't get lost.
That only works with essentials or spc.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
