I build underwater. I place glass blocks horizontally under a lake or river (usually 2-3 blocks below the surface) and displace the water under the glass. I then build my home and other structures in the space I have created under the water. My question is this: would the structures I build there count as houses if I follow all the normal rules for villagers' houses (inside vs outside of the door)? I have built a few structures with normal roofs and plenty of doors in each structure to breed up to 10ish villager baby's. I have cured 3 zombie villagers and have them wandering around the space hoping they will claim the space as a village and start breeding. They aren't. Is there something else I need to consider? I'm playing Windows 10 Edition.
Water does not let light thru; where the village doors are you must have glass blocks vertically thru to the surface of the water, then as long as there is an outside and an inside of each door, and all other conditions are met, should be counted as a house.
That's what I feared. Thanx for the help with that. Maybe I'll just build a breeding center at the surface to spawn villagers and have them drop into the underwater town that way. It won't count as a village but at least I can have villagers down there.
