As the guy above me mentioned (unless someone else posted), spider webs can be frequently used in specific situations; removing those could harm some players' projects. Anyhow, I would probably vote on removing gravel. I'm not quite sure what is it used for, and I don't think it was supposed to be added at all. I don't see a point in adding this annoying noise-pointless object to the game! Dirt is the same, just without that awful noise! :>
Actually, gravel is the only way to get flint. If you got rid of gravel, you would get rid of arrows (which are very important to me) and the Nether all in one.

Swamps.
Or, more exactly, the swamp water.
The transitions are effed up as it is, and the Minecraft team hasn't done anything about this.
And the water sucks.
They should improve the land transitions, but they MUST remove the water.
I would remove the people who think that things need to be removed from minecraft

Minecraft Had Lost It Sparkle Since Notch Changed The World Generation In Beta 1.8.. Why Bother Playing Again And Again If It Will Always Looks The Same , Dull , And Boring.. Try Google "i miss the old world generation"
Cats. Sorry if you're a cat person, but they need to be considerably less annoying. For one, they're difficult to tame, and when you finally do, they like to sit on your chest that has 20 diamonds in them...
I like it as a railroad base.
sponge- make it useful or remove it. maybe like a multi use bucket that drops a short-lived source block.
They should make sponge like a mattress, So that you can land on it and it won't hurt you. (Though, A mattress would.)
Son, I am disappoint.

Removing Creepers is like removing minecraft in general.
