I recently built a mob exp farm up high based on several designs on the forums. Prior to that, I had a exp trap based on a zombie spawner I found beneath my village. For the zombie spawner, I created a water channel to move them away from me the requisite distance (to keep it spawning), water elevator'd them up, dropped them to do damage, etc... The nice thing about the spawner farm is that it would continue to spawn mobs forever. That was nice so I could AFK, do some housework, and come back every so often and kill tons of mobs.
The problem with my mob farm in the sky, is that it seems to stop spawning mobs after ~60 mobs have been collected in my kill area. However, the spawn rate far surpasses the single zombie spawner.
Is there any way to have a mob farm spawn mobs forever without stopping? So I can AFK and come back and kill more than 50-60-70 mobs? Some distance I can move them away so that the spawn pads keep working?
Side note: The number of external html calls on this site is kinda of absurd. A low end laptop really struggles to handle this site:) Takes a long time to load, etc...
If you build a nether portal at your drop zone and in the nether a small hole so that the mobs can only go one way (into the nether, but not back)
you can collect unlimited mobs in the nether.
make a second pair of portals close to it so you can safely travel into the nether, without porting into a bunch of mobs.
You have to build it by hand, divide the coordinates by 8 to know where you have to place it. then they (both pairs) can be close together
Thanks, I'll check out creating a nether portal to shove mobs into at the drop point.

Let us know if it works!
