Hello again. Today, I was trying to find a stronghold, which I did, with 2 ender eyes. My question is, is there any some-what efficient way of finding and killing endermen besides going to the End, because I don't have nearly enough ender eyes for filling in the portal blocks, and when I try to find any endermen, they see to enjoy hiding. So if you could let me know any tips, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I find that if I'm outside at night anywhere that has any kind of elevation, I somehow manage to accidentally look several of them in the eyes in a short space of time. Instant fights and pearls.
Extrapolating from this, I don't know if it will work for you, but what I plan to do when I need a bunch of ender pearls is find the highest hill in a desert or plains biome that I can and build a little "umbrella" of cobblestone at the top - pillar 3 blocks high and then extend the top out with a double ring of cobble to make a 2-block-high space underneath. Then, when night comes I can just wander around under my shelter looking out over the distance for endermen and making eye contact. If my luck holds as it has been, that should be 3 to 5 endermen per MC night. Add in a sword with looting and I should be good to go.
Curious to hear if anyone has better options to increase the "find" rate and reduce the risk.

Thanks for that idea! I will definitely try this. That umbrella idea is also quite smart, never would've thought of a safe way to fight them on my own.
Endermen are rare mobs, as you know, and can be quite hard to come by. But with basic knowledge of their spawning it's not hard to figure where they'll spawn.
For starters, they need darkness, they need a 3-block tall space, and they need to be within the spawning cap. You can't do much about the last issue, but the first 2 can easily be solved by waiting until nighttime, and heading out to any open area like a desert or plains biome.
Preferably you could even do this near your mine, where the majority of caves are lit up, which encourages spawning on the surface rather than underground.
Wander around a plains or desert biome until you find one, and then build a four high pillar away from any mobs. Look at him to teleport him over to you, and kill him.
Thanks everyone for the replies. I managed to kill around 5 endermen using the 3 tall pillar umbrella thing, and got 3 more enderpearls. Now just to wait some more and hope to get the drop. Just need about 6 more and then I can fill in the portal.
Honestly I would just make a set of iron armor, grab a diamond weapon, some food and a compass (assuming your base is at spawn) and start roaming around at night looking for desert biomes to search for them in. I did this and ended up with 17 ender pearls in about 20 mins.
P.S. Try to get a sword with at least looting 1 as they sometimes will not drop eyes without such a weapon.
I know it's not much help to the issue.. but i have a house built on the top of a high hill and I always tend to find endermen on my roof or balconies...
Probably due to my house being at a high altitude..
Endermen scare the life out of me haha!
I guess going to a higher altitude and looking around is the best way to find them. And why? They only teleport all over the place and never stop chasing you.
Flat biomes tend to spawn the most endermen (not to mention other hostile mobs, so be careful!)
2-block high shelters can be used for fighting endermen, ensuring that you can attack them without them attacking you. Once you do manage to kill the Ender Dragon, the End becomes a good source of pearls, if you build 2-block high ceilings and start staring down endermen. However, the pearls aren't nearly as useful once you kill the dragon :/

I'll keep that in mind and I mainly want to make an endermen farm there, so I can get infinite amounts of pearls, and best xp, so I can teleport all over the place
Its harder to do it like that (Easier to watch their legs so that they wont tp). Also, you lose it if the day comes or it hits water...
I was fighting one last night, and it was jumping all over my wheat/carrot/potato farm. Thankfully, it didn't break any of the blocks. But, it hit the water and it was gone. And I bet one more hit would've killed him.
I would kindly recommend making what a two block high pillar then putting a block next to the top block. Then head for a desert/plains/any flat biome and start searching. When you look then go under the block and fight, they can't hurt you!
(PS. I would recommend the pillar near where there is no water cause the enderman could easily take damage and drown, no giving you the drop)

They teleport not die because they take damage from water. And they do drop if they are killed by water (not EXP). It is kinda hard for a enderman to take drown damage legit.

Thanks for all the hints everyone I managed to kill enough enderman and got enough pearls for the portal, and killed the enderdragon. I did set up and enderman farm just now, and I now have chests full of pearls, and 70 something levels. Now it seems as though I never have them. Oh the irony.
I live in the plains that's touching the dessert a bit, and it's very high Endermen prone. I see them almost every night and I fight them in the safety of my well lit area.
