Well I've noticed a diamond hoe ends up running out super quick. I normally don't use a diamond sword, I use stone because you can make several since there is more stone than anything else.
The diamond pickaxe is a lot better than gold though.
That person on Youtube, he's a moron. Gold is the second worst material to make tools from.
Actually, no. Gold tools can break certain blocks much faster than Diamond, but have less uses. I've tried breaking Iron/Gold/Diamond blocks with a gold pick and it went super slow for some reason. The only way they'd be more efficient though, is to make tons of them, or invedit yourself invincible ones.
Gold tools (pickaxe, axe, shovel) break anything a wooden variant can extremely fast.
For instance, a gold pickaxe will break stone in 0.2 secs (as opposed to 0.3 secs for diamond), but it will only "mine" blocks that a wooden pickaxe can. For example, a gold pickaxe can't mine an iron block.
Golden sword and hoe is pretty useless. Since there's no "break time" for these tools there's no speed bonus.
Conclusion: if you're using InvEdit or something to build stuff for fun, use golden tools with overdurability, since they'll make breaking things much faster. In normal play, use gold for booster rails to boost minecarts or gold blocks to boost your ego.
The trick with gold tools, that I do anyway, is to use them right until the block is about to break, and then switch to a stone/iron tool. If you do it right, you'll mine the block really fast, but another tool will degrade rather than the gold one.

Gold is weak without alloys like zinc, brass etc there isn't any plausible reason why anyone would waste their time crafting it into a tool or weapon it's kind of a worthless metal in minecraft besides using it to make golden apples...

Dude, you just necro'd a post from more than a year ago. AND you're talking about a mod.
I Only use gold to make golden apples, soon I'll use them for carrots once I get a potions set started, but alas I've yet to see any Blaze(s), and W/O that I can't get very far. I've got loads of iron and no need to use gold tools.
Gold is highly enchantable and mines VERY fast, but Gold cannot mine a lot of valuble ores such as iron, diamonds, redstone, lapis, or even itself, making it only useful as a way to dig through coal/stone faster. The enchantable is also useless and a waste of XP, because it only has 33 uses. That means you can only mine 33 blocks before it breaks. It can be enchanted with Unbreaking III (The highest level of said enchantment), but on average it will only last for about as long as a stone one, which has a wider variety of collectable ores (Lapis Lazuli and Iron). Gold can be much more useful when used to make Golden Apples or Powered Rails.
Diamonds are extremely powerful, and can plow through anything but bedrock. They last a very long time and are considered the highest tier of ores. However, they are extremely hard to find and do not mine as fast as gold. However, Diamond Tools do mine very fast (just not as fast). More diamonds can most likely be found within the lifespan of your pick, which lasts for 1,562 uses. Unbreaking can be used to extend this even longer.
Gold picks and shovels break blocks faster than diamond, but they are less durable than wood. The pickaxe can only break stone and coal. Let's say you're in your diamond mine, and you're using a gold pick. You come across some diamonds, but think, I'll have to get those later, this pick can't break it. 1 and a half minutes after you start mining, your pick breaks. "Oh, better get a new pick!" When you go back, you realize, I have no iron! You go back down to find some iron, and you forget a pick. You get a pick, and it takes you 8 minutes to find iron, but it's only 2 blocks. It takes you 5 more minutes to find another piece. You go home and make an iron pick. On your way down, you run into a skelly, and he knocks you into lava. That's why you shouldn't use gold tools. (This is a worst case scenario, it's very unlikely this will happen.)
Gold is the worst tool to make tools out of. That person on YouTube doesn't know anything about Minecraft. Diamonds are the best thing to make tools out of EVER. Durabilities:
Gold - 33 (SUCKAGE!)
Wood - 60 (Better)
Stone - 132 (Okay)
Iron - 251 (Epic)
Diamond - 1562 (PWNAGE!)
So as you can see, gold sucks. Hope this helped.

Somebody at YouTube said that gold tools break everything faster.
I just killed a zombie with a gold sword and it takes 4 hit. Diamond takes two.

Those who do, and those who don't.
Gold hoe = same as wood
Golden every thing else = super fast, but only has 33 uses. (not worth it)
The old wood uses, that is, only 33
Sig'd: Once
The diamond pickaxe is a lot better than gold though.

Gold is a soft type of metal, dimonad is about the hardest thing besides obsidian
The only other use for gold is tracks and golden apples.

Overall, Diamonds are more worth it.

I say let gold mine whatever iron can mine.
