Go wandering in the Forrest or Taiga areas with your F3 turned on and keep your head on a swivel, and keep an eye out for passive mob droppings from the mobs that the wolves attack.

How do I know when I'm in a forest biome? I can't tell the difference between that and rainforest.
that is the excact problem I had. the difference lies in the shape of the trees; if some leaves touch the ground at the height the tree is on, you're in a rainforest.
The trees will also seem thicker. There's like 5 more per chunk.
If all else fails, go to a taiga biome and search for wolves. It's a snowy biome that has a moderate amount of trees (pine trees). The only other snowy biome is a tundra, which has very few trees.
Build your house right next to a forest, cut the trees down and place a lot of torches.
I found two wolves outside our house right after the other one got killed by my friend's wolf :sad.gif:
Also I don't recommend going on long journeys just to find wolves. Stick to one area where you are sure to find wolves, and check that area once or twice a day. It's less frustrating and gives you something else to do in between looking for them.

you guys are idiots no offense but it is simple look for the giant trees besides the trees in rainforest are greener plus they are huge while forest are not as dense

Sorry but you're the idiot here. This thread is from nearly a year and a half ago before JUNGLES were added as a biome which replaced the old rainforest biome. The rainforest biome was a very dense oak tree forest with a much higher percentage of the really large oak tree's.
This is the problem with replying to a thread that is more than 3 or 4 months old, the game can change a lot in that time.
Look for drops from passive mobs that you didn't kill
Light might make a different, but I dunno.
When you find one, make sure you have bones.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
