So I have been playing Minecraft for as long as I can remember, and I have not had any
problems playing the game, but ever since I updated to 1.3, my map that I have been working
on in order to complete the game, AND all other maps, have increased enormously in terms of
lag, and the game has become unplayable.
I have tried playing on the lowest graphic setting possible, and basically everything I can find
online to help make the game faster. Is there anyway to make my game run faster?
I don't seem to be having any problems...
If I were you, I'd probably get Optifine for 1.3.1. Not sure if it released yet, though.
Yes, it's been released.

lol i have noticed a lot of things that are lagged such as connecting to a server or changing texturepacks. my gameplay has been rather smooth except for small bugs within the game. haven't played 1.3.1 much though.
I'm using a Mac, Powerbook G4. I know its a pretty bad computer, but Minecraft has always ran pretty fast on it.
Yeah, it came with the update. Single-core and Macs see a decrease in performance while Multi-cores run much better then they used to.
Hopefully it'll be resolved in a later update, when they work on optimization.

Weird...i had a huge performance increase on 2 different laptops with the update. One laptop could barely run Minecraft on tiny render with decreased particles eventually i used optifine to basically remove everything that would lag the game, and having too many animals around would still cause lag. Then with the update it can run with Normal render and normal particles and no optifine.
The 2nd laptop ran with no lag on normal render but extreme would lag it, but with the update it can run with no lag on extreme render distance and run the LAN perfectly fine.
Here is the link to the optifine thread if anybody needs it
I could run Minecraft 1.2.5 easy but when I updated to 1.3.1 I had terrible lag. Then I remembered that I still had my mods and config folders with my mod files installed I backed up my saves and texture-packs deleted Minecraft from Rommings folder and re-installed minecraft, pit back in my saves and TP's and it ran better then before the update. Hope this helps someone.
It is most likely, like someone else mentioned, because they are currently optimizing for multi-core processors. If you don't have a multi-core processor, you will see a drop in performance. If you do, you may see a gain, depending on your computers specs. I had no noticeable difference, but I typically run 90+ fps at max settings anyway.
In terms it could be the feature of running a LAN Server as if you were to run a server on the console you will see the exact same things if you run minecraft with CMD (e.g in the server console you'll see opening port or Server can't catch up blah blah blah) Jeb has said minecraft will reduce less CPU And RAM but the lan feature is a big fault of 1.3 for some people on lag issues.

But I don't think that is related to GPU, so Optifine may not help too much (I think).
Please, try this: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/534818-125-nbxlite-olddays-spawn-human/page__st__5840#entry17026125
Is singleplayer to 1.3.1. Is some bugged :/, but is in developing.
Install it like a mod, deleting META-INF (don't install it with other mods).
And tell me what you get
I'm finally back. See profile for details.
