So, I know you have seen a village. You have seen big villages, huge villages, villages stretching from biome to biome. And these villages can prosper in minecraft, with Iron Golems wiping out every zombie in sight, with a constantly growing population. But now lets think the other way. What if, you came across, in your minecraft land, not a big village, or huge village, or a village stretching from biome to biome, but a tiny village. A village with only one well, one house and a tiny wheat farm. No iron golems in sight. Only two villagers in the entire city. There is no one to defend them. They would die off by the first night. They have no chance at surviving in the harsh night world. But there is one who can let them live. One who can change their history, and ensure their future. That is you. And so, I am presenting you with a challenge beyond what you’ve faced before. It is called the Iron Village Challenge.
Sorry, for the really over-dramatic intro. But ya, I’ve got a pretty hard challenge for you guys. But I’ll start with the very basics. Before you read any further, I would suggest doing this:
Open Minecraft, create a creative world with the seed “Iron Please” (without the quotes, and exactly how I wrote it, because the seed generation is caps sensitive) Now let the world load for a sec, and then travel to this particular point on the map: x= 203 y= 70 z= 282 Fits the description I gave you of that village in the beginning, doesn’t it? Well if it doesn’t, you screwed something up, like maybe turning off structures generation.
So just look inside the house, and you’ll see the two lonely villagers inside (or maybe wandering about the land) This is probably the smallest type of village that could spawn in Minecraft. Now, do you really want to let the villagers die a cruel zombie death? I wouldn’t. And if you’ve read this far, I don’t think you would either.
The main goal for you in this challenge is to build up the city of Ironville (named after the seed) which is, as of now, a small hut, a well and a farm. But, to be more precise, your goals are as follows-
And remember, play on either hardcore or survival. Not creative mode, because I won't pay attention to people who do this that way.
Also, feel free to use mods. But please, don't use like too-many-items to hack in a ton of stuff. One good mod for this that I suggest would be the Minecraft Alive mod.
Hey, I have just come up with a pretty good new idea. This way, people aren't asking if things are okay to do.
Here are the difficulties that you can play the Ironville Challenge on-
Dirt Golem-
-You can place dirt in front of the doors to keep the Testificates safe. You can also use gates instead of the door.
-Can play on easy and above
-Build up the city of Ironville to contain two churches, 15 houses, one extra well, and one suicide booth (suggested by benjamino59)
-Aquire 500 Dirt Blocks
This is the easiest of them all to complete. If you do this, you will be ranked in this challenge as a Dirt Golem.
Wood Golem-
-You can only place dirt in front of the doors during the night to keep Testificates safe. You can also use gates during the night.
-Can play on Normal and above -Build up the city of Ironville to have 3 Churches, 20 Houses, one extra well, one suicide booth, a tree farm, and a wooden wall around the village (idea from Philosophiac) -Acquire 500 Wooden Planks
This one is harder than Dirt, but is still pretty easy. Completing this will qualify you as a Wood Golem
Sandstone Golem-
- You can not protect the villagers' door with dirt, or anything else. You cannot also use gates. - Can play on Normal and above - Build up the city of Ironville to have 3 churches, 25 houses, one extra well, one suicide booth, two tree farms, and a wooden wall around the village.
- Acquire 500 sandstone - Build the via-Ironville Sheepingville (road from Ironville to Sheepingville)
It starts to get challenging here. You can no longer rely on dirt to save you.
Cobblestone Golem-
- You can not protect the villagers' door with dirt, or anything else. You cannot also use gates.
-Can play only on hard
-Build up the city of Ironville to have 4 churches, 35 housese, 2 extra wells, 5 extra wheat farms, 1 melon farm, one suicide booth, two tree farms, and a cobblestone wall around the village.
-Acquire 1500 cobblestone
-Build the via Sheepingville Epcville (a road stretching from Sheepingville to Epcville)
-Build 4 defending snow golems, and 1 defending iron golem
Ya, I don't think your gonna do this one.
Iron Golem-
- You can not protect the villagers' door with dirt, or anything else. You cannot also use gates.
- Must play on hardcore
- Build up Ironville to have 4 churches, 50 houses, 2 extra wells, 10 extra wheat farms, 1 melon farm, 1 pumpkin farm, one suicide booth, 3 tree farms, at least one 5x5 temple, made of creeper sandstone, containing a non-cheated-for Enderdragon Egg in it, and a cobblestone wall with guard towers surrounding the village
-Acquire 500 Iron Ingots
- Build the via Jistrich Epcville (build a road stretching from Jistrich to Epcville, while connecting Ironville and Sheepingville in it.
- Build an army of 10 Iron Golems to defend the town of Ironville. (or let them spawn)
- Reach the Southern Formations (another continent at x= -2144 z= 6784)
Only the best of the best Minecrafters can do this. Can you dare take on the greatest challenge of them all?
Copper Golem
- The same rules as sandstone, except without acquiring the 500 sandstone.
- You can use mods, any you like (except the cheating ones)
- You must acquire 20 ice blocks (yes, I know they can't be gotten from pickaxes, unless you have silk touch)
These are for the people who want to use mods. Perfectly fine with me, beat it and you earn the title Copper Golem (because copper isn't in minecraft, and you need mods to get it.... never mind.)
So, this may seem like a lot. Well trust me, it is a lot. But you can certainly feel accomplished for beating any one of these tasks. But before I go on, I must explain some of them.
Now, to build the road, you first need to travel to the two cities that are the starting and ending point. They are as listed:
Epcville x= -160 z= 2272
This village has some EPIC mountains very close to it, so that’s why it’s named EPCville. This is the southern-most village of the 4.
Jistrich x= 368 z= -2816
This village is near the edge of another massive Tundra biome. Be prepared to do ALOT of walking to get to this village, which is the northern-most village of the 4.
Now, the two villages that you must connect in the path are also listed below.
Ironville x= 203 y= 282
This is the obvious one. The entire challenge is based upon this village.
Sheepingville
x= 208 y= 704
This village is just across the desert from Ironville. One could even think of it as Ironville’s competitor, because of the this towns size. There are also many sheep near this town.
So, all you have to do is build a 3 gravel-wide road from Jistrich the Sheepingville to Ironville to Epcville, and you complete the challenge.
Lastly, you can either do this hardcore or not. But if you do it hardcore, it would be much So, this is the challenge. If you do one of the them, you're awesome. Two of them, you're amazing. All of them, you're a true Iron Golem.
Here, is also a Google-Earth like map like map of the continent you spawn on, with the important villages listed with coordinates:
So, thanks for reading this, I HIGHLY suggest you try this. Once you complete any of the challenges, please post a picture of them in the reply section. (except the ender dragon, cause I already know what that looks like and so does everyone else) the first few people to do this I will put up on a list on this post. Thanks for reading, and remember that the seed is, without the quotes, "Iron Please" Here's some other random info- Some pics of the villages-
You also may want to check out the point-
x= -102
y= 69 (=
z= 372
Just for fun!
News About this Challenge-
-Alright, I'm looking for some dedicated minecraft users. I need a few people for something, and if your interested, just say so in the reply section.
So, I need a person (or a few people) to help me actually build some of the things in the challenge. I will use the pictures so that people can actually see what they are trying to build.
I also would like it if someone could do a short cinematic clip of Ironville. I SUCK at filming, but I would help them in any way I could. Just reply in the comments if you would like to, make it, show it to me, and if it's good post it to your channel! Hopefully, it will get you a good amount of views, and get youtubers to notice this challenge.
-Also, I am thinking of implementing a COMPLETELY different system of ranking, and building up Ironville. It would be so each building type that you build would have a value (like 2 or 6) and that for each rank, you had to grow up the city to have a certain amount of these sort of "points". Of course, there would be buildings you would still have to build. For example, you would still have to build a wall, or maybe 10 houses. Anyways, what's your opinion on this? Vote at the top of this post on what you think I should do.
If yes reaches 10 votes before any no's, I'll do it.
Thats all of the news I have for now, thanks for reading!
Hold on. Do zombies or any other mobs actually kill villagers?

So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
I'd never call it -legit-... but I think I'm definitely going to give this seed a hardcore playthrough now. Just for fun.
The reason I wouldn't call it legit is because I've got several mods installed which one might consider to be cheating or creating an unfair advantage. Harvesting wood by cutting down the -entire- tree, for instance. Or the additional variety (and frequency) of drops from the monsters in Mo' Creatures.
Still, Hardcore is Hardcore, and there's the added element of Ogre danger too! Nothing says 'screwed' like having the ONLY house in town plowed down by an angry ogre!
This should be a fun challenge! I look forward to seeing what folks do with it!

I love a good challenge! I love an unwinnable challenge even more!
Between ogres, werewolves, flame wraiths, an army of the undead, wild wolves, and the occasional creeper out of left field... my ability to chop down trees at an accellerated rate and the random ruins scattered about my world shouldn't give me too much of an advantage over my foes.
Especially considering the fact that I'm now on my third try and already down a citizen!

XD it took me a LONG time to get them safe, too. I have a lot of old deleted worlds named "Iron Please","Iron Please Again","Iron Please Yet Again" etc. But anyways, thanks for using the seed!

Go hang a salami I'm a lasagna hog. Now read each letter backwards.
This time, I had a stroke of genius. I re-activated my Minecraft Comes Alive mod, and managed to keep the villagers -mostly- safe by telling them to stay indoors for a goodly portion of the first hour I played. I managed to completely flatten out the area around the village, build a large farm field behind the one starting house, and even completed a second house for myself! Completely in the style of the default villages, so that it blended right in.
Everything was going fine until morning came, and I got distracted trying to kill a spider lurking about on my roof. The damn creeper showed up behind me before I even realized it.
Blocking a creeper explosion at point blank with a stone sword doesn't help much.
Alas. The villagers were all killed in the explosion... and me... the spider got me while I was trying to scramble inside my battered house.
Maybe the fourth time's the charm!

The first thing I usually do in this world is mine as much Iron during the first day as possible. Then, I go exploring hoping to find pumpkins. I once found some, but I don't remember were. I'll post them when I find them. Anyways, then I build an Iron Golem as quickly as possible. Believe me, it helps a TON. It gives you time to actually go mine and advance in the challenge.

Easy, just wait for the villagers to go inside the house, add a torch or two, then use blocks to cover up the door. You can start building from there.
Good challenge, though. Finally, there's someone who doesn't blow up villages. I think I'll try this after my own challenge and another challenge I'm waiting to do.
Edit: All those y-coordinates should be z-coordinates.
The villagers are really like kids..
SO annoying, I had to block all the doors with dirt, had to push them myself into thier houses, in the time left collect as much as wood and some food...I really fell like a parent..
I'll keep updating..let's see how we pass the night.
I may have to give this a shot myself, it sounds interesting. Also the name keeps making think of Iron Chef, and then I can't help but imagine a simultaneous competition between two "Iron Mayors" recorded and then commentated in the same way as an episode of Iron Chef.
Okay, that's it. After nine failures in a row, I've decided that my best bet is to try this in just plain Hard-Difficulty survival.
Maybe once I've completed the whole thing like that, I'll be ready to try it again on Hardcore. As it stands, I've died seven times and had the villagers wiped out by an ogre twice. The third villager-death was actually inflicted by a random bolt of lightning during a thunderstorm.
The house burned down around them.
Nothing you can do about -that- kind of thing, though.

D: Sucks.
I tried this in yesterday and managed to get through three nights, then we had a zombie seige.
Holy cow, I came home today to all these comments. Thanks for all these comments in just 2 days!
Anyways, I am going to post a few suggestions for this challenge, and answer/reply to a few comments.
It looks like a great challenge, but maybe add more goals? Like having 3 churches, a suicide booth, or things.
I would have given you a 1+, but it said there was an error when i pressed the button.
for you!
Thanks for trying to +1 me! But ya, I think I will add a few more challenges to this. But give me a few days to think about them.
My villagers aren't populating..
Can I do something about it?
Hmm, maybe first make sure that you have at least 4 houses with doors on them, and if that doesn't work, shove the two villagers in a very small room =)

You are having quite a lot of bad luck, I must say. I'd suggest covering your houses with cobblestone, to prevent the lightning. But I'm not really sure what to do bout' the ogres... maybe build a moat, while that would take a while.
And finally, here's just a few suggestions.
-Try to keep close watch of the two villagers (obvious one)
-If the zombies keep getting at the villagers, I suggest spending the night with them, standing guard at the door. While it's boring, that's the main way I succeed. Or try to.
-I would suggest also going to the very nearby jungle, to pick up a few ocelots. Also, the forest may supply you with wolves, which can help you in the night.
Sorry if this wasn't the best advice, but hopefully it will help some.

Sorry, for the really over-dramatic intro. But ya, I’ve got a pretty hard challenge for you guys. But I’ll start with the very basics. Before you read any further, I would suggest doing this:
Open Minecraft, create a creative world with the seed “Iron Please” (without the quotes, and exactly how I wrote it, because the seed generation is caps sensitive) Now let the world load for a sec, and then travel to this particular point on the map:
x= 203
y= 70
z= 282
Fits the description I gave you of that village in the beginning, doesn’t it? Well if it doesn’t, you screwed something up, like maybe turning off structures generation.
