So when I went to play my new survival world that I started yesterday, I found a large square chunk-sized hole in the world. I sighed and said "Not again" My other survival world was corrupted due to a glitch a week or two ago. I went to go look over the edge of the hole and I bumped into a sheep. We were both sent flying a good 10-15 blocks and I took 2 and a half hearts of damage plus half a heart of fall damage. The sheep seems to disappear after a minute of floating around in the hole. I was shocked that this happened. I am running no mods. So, I went to go find my home in a village and I got a saving chunks crash. Is my MC broken or something?
Force update maybe... That's what resets it. If it's a graphical error you may want to get the mod 'Optifine' that would make the game run slightly faster.

Is this MP, becuase that's the only time world holes occur to me..
I can hardly read the middle part, how did you bump a sheep and it sent you BOTH flying?
I was in Single Player. And about the sheep thing: I just sort of bumped into the sheep, and instead of the sheep being pushed like normal, I took damage on contact, and the sheep and I were sent flying in the opposite directions
The damage was because you walked down a +3 tall cliff, even if you were not able to see the terrain. And the flying sheep is because mobs (and the player, sometimes) are terrible glitchy when they enter world holes.
It happens to me A LOT in the nether, but only in the places where there is nothing above the lava.
What ca we say? Minecraft is, and most probably will always be a ver bugged game.
I took the initial damage on contact with the sheep, then took some extra fall damage when I got knocked back
I would suggest backing-up what you want, deleting everything from the .minecraft folder, and running Minecraft again with a brand new world. It could very well be some glitch in the saving of the files since this isn't the first time it's happened with a saved SSP. Hope you figure it out, man!

Yeah, I think I'll do that. In fact, my new world with the Tropicraft mod that I just started today had yet another world hole! This one wasn't as bad and I didn't get a knockback sheep but I think I will do what you said
Edit: FPS was around 15-20, happened on June 9th 2012, and what do you need to know about my computer exactly?
I think he needs to know more about your computer to find the problem and the solution. Really sucks that that happened to you. I hope it gets fixed soon.

I'm still using Windows 7.
I said this. Two days later, my computer's motherboard melted down and I had to get a new one with Windows 8.
Its possible to get serious knockback from mobs if you spawn, like, 500 zombies on a 1 block space and then bump them.

If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
I dunno. 3 GB is pretty good, while 15-20 FPS isn't so great. I'm guessing a memory leak, and it had nothing to do with graphics. I'd like to know the information about the location(in minecraft)where this happened.

What do you mean? Do you want seed and coords? Shoot! I found the seed on the forums, but I deleted the world so I don't know the coords
Edit: My average FPS is 20-25, I think it's because of how much crap I have on my computer
My suggestion would be to either do a force update or get a new bin folder. To get a new bin folder just delete your current one and restart minecraft.
I am ninja'd far too often.
It must have been like knockback 6 or something
It's a hole in the world, it's saved and is there

Sir, that is not possible, but I will research this. I'm gonna need all the information you can give me, like the FPS, computer stuff, even the date.
I got this from signature craft!

I just took damage on contact with the sheep, was knocked back, and then took additional damage from the fall

Irony in the first degree.

I use Windows 7, and my memory capacity is 3 GB (That's the right one I think, I'm just looking at the little info sticker on my laptop)
