I'm looking for a villager breeding machine that works very well in SMP.
Requirements that I want for the breeder:
-Will continuously breed.
-Has an good system for exporting recently bred villagers.
Basically, I just want to build a tower in the sky that has a villager breeder at the very top in my city. When a villager is bred, that villager will fall down the tower into my city and that cycle continues on. (Like Docm77's UFO)
So far, I have not found a bug free system yet but I did find something that could be reliable if a certain bug it has gets fixed.
Here's the link to the video showing the potential villager breeder system:
The problem with this design is that whenever you log out, the villagers will exit out of the minecart. When they do that, they fall out of the breeding system and it'll end up having to breeders at all. However, this guy's first breeding system that he made did not have villagers exit out of the minecarts.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Does this apply to SMP?
If you know any other designs that fits my requirements, please suggest it.
I hope you'll find one! I think DOCm77's is cool, check him out on YouTube - Can't say if it's still working in the lastest updates, though. You'll have to search through his videos.
However, one warning: A lot of mods get really angry if you set up systems like this on SMP since it quite often lags the server like crazy. I'd ask them first just to be sure.
If you use that design on survival and don't play peaceful, then you'll get a million zombies in the mix. It's slow to begin with, but well, after a zombie siege... The amount of villagers left is pretty low. And lighting the area up doesn't help.
I think I may have designed something that might fit my requirements but I need some confirmation first.
Here is my design for the villager breeder:
The concept of this design is, the water flow pushes the breeder villagers in to the breeding area. Once a villager or multiple villagers are bred, the extra villagers can't fit in in the room so they are pushed out by other entities the falling area where they will fall into my city.
Can anyone confirm if this idea will work? As you can see in the image, they can breed while in water since there is a villager child in the drop pit.
Interesting design Ray. What exactly are you going for? If you make those breeders have a constant output then you're going to need to kill off villagers or overpopulation will happen. If that is what you want, then you need your design to have enough doors for it to spawn 4 villagers, the 4th one falling off every time, correct?. If so then I believe that requires 12 doors, so you need at least 12 doors on your design and it should work.
I'm not sure exactly how big the 'search' routine is for a village and breeding, but I do know it is dynamic. Docm77's saucer didn't look to be much more than 50-60 blocks above the village. Why don't you use that as a starting point. The biggest question is how are you going to get your new little villagers down safely from that far up? One idea might be to see if you can place those in the ground and actually use water elevators to pipe the kids up into the town.

I was going to make the breeding machine in a tower in my city. Once the villagers breed at the top of the tower, they will fall off into my city where they can find a house to live in. The villagers will fall into a water brake to stop fall damage and then wander where ever in my city they would like. My intention is to get the city to look populated.

Please post and comment below. Thanks.
you may have to modify it a bit but its pretty good
Well, I own the server so I don't really mind
Do you know another design that could work?
Thanks for suggesting but is there a way to export the villagers without using minecarts?

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
