Am I the only one who loathes the hunger bar and misses the days of 1.5 or 1.4 just wondering. Also am I the only one who wishes he could forget about everything you know about minecraft and go back to figuring everything out? Well I am.
The Hunger made the game more realistic.
If you dont like it, there are some mods that remove it, or you could also use MC Nostalgia to back-date to a desired version.
I personaly prefer the game this way.
I am playing a backdated version right now and thats why I decided to post this. The reason I am saying all this is because what fun is a game like this when you have no one to share your adventures with. I mean i have friends but most of them are to lazy to backdate or I cant find a server software to play on
I personally wouldn't mind if it could be toggled off every now and then, but setting the game to peaceful works when I don't have time to haul food around everywhere.
I just wish I could enable and disable certain mobs. I like having the hostile guys around, but creepers always mess up my creations, and it's a huge pain rebuilding them.

If you clicked on "No Structures" in the world options before you started your world then congradulations.
Well, I usually don't dislike people for their opinions, but I've seen this type of thread WAY too many times. It's the same thing over and over, when there are obviously many ways to fix it such as McNostalgia and such. They won't change the game into going back to where it was, why? Because so many MORE people like the new update.
I'll explain why hunger is good.
-It makes the game SURVIVAL. Surviving makes me think of killing animals to survive, fighting off monsters, and exploring a new world. Food adds so much to the game, and you actually feel more threatened by having no choice but to go nourish yourself. Plus it's helpful for newbies because when you start in the world, you might stupidly jump off a cliff and loose 4 hearts. You learn your lesson, and the hunger regenerates your health for the time being.
Guys, quit flaming each other. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, whether you agree with it or not.
I happen to think hunger was one of the better additions made. It allowed food to be stackable, it stopped you from being quite as invincible, and it allowed a balanced version of sprinting in the game. If there was also one thing I hated, it was taking random fall damage and having my health be less than full because of it. The passive regeneration is nice. Also, food got even easier to obtain, so this really isn't too much of a hindrance for the benefits it provides.
Pistons are awesome. Villages are becoming more awesome. The End still sucks.

I personally dislike realism in games, If i wanted something realistic I would play a sim or go outside instead of playing minecraft

Although there is one thing I'd like to say.
I'm so glad that the hunger update got rid of instant health regeneration. I was pissed whenever my lava trap failed because someone just spammed cooked porkchops and got out alive.

I agree, killing people is so much more interesting now, arrow traps actually work because people don't just walk through like a big pork filled slice of Swiss cheese.

in a way, however with the larger updates i feel like i'm going back into that i don't know stage
I personally love every update that's occured.
The hunger bar like others have said allows the game to hold a hint of realism which I personally love and if people hate I am sure there is a mod or something that could take it away.
Other things like potions and enchantments, I don't really care for so I don't use them.
Although sometimes I wish the villagers would stop crowding in one corner of the village, I still love them and makes my base not so empty.
Sometimes I wish I could forget everything I know about the game and start a new but even still I enjoy playing minecraft for a few hours.
First of all, use that.
If you want to start fresh; why don't you just take a break for a week or two? Try something else.
