Dirt is only useful for cosmetic purposes (and isn't even good at that) and once you have a few stacks of seeds, you have more than you will EVER need. Guaranteed.
Gravel is really useful, actually. You can throw them down ravines and caves to make a safe 'elevator' downwards.
And you can get flint from it.
In my opinion, the most useless item is a pumpkin. They can be worn to protect from Endermen stares and can be used as Jack-O-Lanterns, sure, but Endermen stares can be avoided by just not looking at them and torches do the job of Jack-O-Lanterns just as well and Glowstone does an even better job.
Dead Bushes are also useless, simply cos they do nothing, aka the definition of useless.
Survival mode is more than just surviving. It's surviving and THRIVING. I am much happier with powered rails making long journeys easy instead of walking for 10+ minutes through the forest at night.
Other than that, gold tools becouse of there high speed very low durability , illogical and extreamly impractical since every block broke is a damage point against the item.
Yes you get a better enchant chance on them but why get a great enchant that's going to be short lived? Even if you get unbreaking III on a gold pick its only gonna have a life span of a stone one.
As far as the compass, its use is very good when navigating underground to make your tunnels go where you want them to match what is above ground. The compass (in objective reality) is a tool for a sense of direction, not destination. Since there is no true north (being mine craft is not a spherical world), the spawn point is your north pole. The clock, very limited use since the release of beds.

Saddles... They might be cool, but they have no real use and they don't even stack
Probably not but I'm gonna go off topic quick and ask... Are you Liquid TLO?

Highest explosive-resistance next to Obsidian but can still be stuck and pushed by pistons.
