So I hear red apples have a 1 in 200 chance to drop from oak leafs now. Before I go deforest half of minecraft in search of the overrated fruit, I figured I should know: Do you need to create a new world for the update to count, or can you still get it like that on a pre-update world?
Yes, I dont know **** about how updates work. :unsure.gif:
The only legit way to get red apples is killing Notch but you will never be able to meet and kill him. Hes a GOD!!!
The only other two ways are mods and hacking.

Technically it is out, its mostly for people who wanna test it and find bugs and such but on the main page if you scroll down and find the initial post of it talking about the update, you can download the .jar file and put it in your minecraft folder and it should work, as long as it replaces the old .jar file

Technically it ISN'T out, it's simply in beta. But yeah, it works the same way pre-releases did.

By the way, the Minecraft world will now be known as "Arth".

This is incorrect. They can be found in stronghold chests, and in the new .jar update, they fall from trees.

Any new features will work; new biomes and such need to be in newly generated chunks, but everything else will work.

I'm not sure. I don't know of any actual release date.
But apples can still be found in chests in dungeons and strongholds.

You can download it now from Jeb's twitter. Some installation required, however.
