I just started enchanting today and I have come to the conclusion that some things are just overpowered. I don't think that the swords and armor enchantments are but I think that the pickaxe, spade and axe enchantments are. Mainly the pickaxe enchantments are overpowered to me. The unbreaking and efficiency are fine with me but the silk touch and fortune are. Silk touch should drop the actual thing like 50% of the time. Fortune shouldn't drop 4+ diamonds from one block. I think that it is making the game a little too easy. Sure I am going to get the comments saying "Don't enchant" and what not, but I think that this is a problem that should be addressed. Agree or disagree. This is my honest opinion.
With the effort required to get Fortune, especially high levels, Silk Touch, et cetera, they have a balanced power. You need enormous amounts of experience.
I don't particularly like enchanting/alchemy in general, though.. too much complexity for a simple themed game. Oh well.

I don't see why this is a bad argument. If you are playing alone, why is it so hard to just not use something you don't have to use? You can make the game as easy or as hard for yourself as you want it to be.
How is Silk Touch OP? It's a useful skill, and not very OP anymore, considering you can't get monster spawners anymore. And Fortune only drops 4 diamond when it's enchantment 3 (which is difficult to get) and only does it 10% of the time or so. When are you going to find diamonds in such a large concentration where you would get too many diamonds than allowed? (Might I add, also, that there is no real OP in a sandbox game.)
Okay I guess that I did not really think of the aspect that some/most people don't have exp grinders and that they work really hard for their experience. I also didn't really take into consideration that you can play the game according to how you want to. I was thinking more on the side that everyone plays how I do and I am wrong to have assumed that. I will be more open minded and put thought into my posts for now on. Sorry for wasting your time.
