Choose what passive mobs most benefits you! Please also state why you chose the mob you did. Some of you are thinking "What a idiot, the guy didn't put wolves on there!"
Wolves are neutral.

From what is up there, cow, but I think mooshrooms are the most useful overall. You can get mushroom stew, mushrooms, milk, beef, and leather from them, since when sheared they turn into a cow.

add mooshroom :smile.gif: but I dont get why so many people like cows? cows are almost as good as pigs without the saddle feature. leather is so useless sihttp://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/784967-most-useful-passive-mobs/nce iron is so abundent and leather has no other use. and steak is the just a food along with so many other options.
i chose chickens because they are so much more useful as they have the primary use of chicken food, which is worth a little less than other meat but still a viable option. The second drop being eggs, which allows breeding of chickens being the only option in 1.8 at the moment. also a use for cakes! :biggrin.gif: the third and most useful use is feathers which since zombies now drop flesh is important for arrows which are crucial since flint is very easy to get from the loads of gravel in minecraft now.
The only other animal worth noting is sheep since it is good for a beggining bed, but after going in caves you should have plenty of string to make more wool.
Pigs are bad because they have one drop which is the best meat. bacon strips.
1. Raw Beef
2. Leather
3. Spawn quickly and are quite populous
4. Milk
5. Pretty easy to distinguish (Large and have spots)
6. Very bad at running away (I hate chickens...)
Cows, pigs, and chicken just add food which can be obtained by other means. Cows also drop leather which is just a poor version of armor, especially considering everyone can aford to make iron armor. Chickens in addition drop feathers but its better just to kill skeletons and collect the arrows. So sheep and squid are my two most useful hostile mobs since I cant acquire what they drop in any other way.
I don't use any of the passive mobs at all. I get my food from a wheat farm so I have no use for any of them.
If I had to chose one though, it would be the chicken.
Only because they are the only way to get feathers now.
Hopefully, in my current world I will find a skeleton spawner before I feel the need to make arrows, then I won't have to worry about the chickens at all either.
Trying to get games written for windows to work on a Linux machine is like trying to put a diaper on an incontinent buffalo. Sure, you might get it all done, but you'll certainly be left with a huge mess, and it's very time consuming.
I think the cow is the most useful one because it can drop leather for armor, beef to cook into steak which heals 5 hunger, you can milk it to make cake and 1.9, to cure poison and other bad things. They also spawn in herds of 5 is minimum and one time i saw a pack of 16 cows 0_0 i had enough food for 5 whole mc days! So, cow is teh best
Wolves are neutral.
Pig = Pork and Riding that sucks. Food
Chicken = Feathers and Chicken. Arrows/Eggs/Food
Sheep = Wool. Wool
Squid= Ink Sac. Ink Sac
Yea, I pick Cow
Chicken lay egg,
Egg=cake
Cake=OmNomNomNom
after that sheep for beds or chickens for feathers
But for a successful first day you need them all. Afterwards you need the cow only.
Check out my mods! :-)

You can make wool out of string.
