The wonderful joys of Minecraft... 1.7. As a late Infdev player, I can say I am disappointed at what this game looks like today. Hey, remember when there was no pointless server plugins, or SP hacks? Remember when you actually had to go and collect your resources, build a cozy cottage and eventually build up to a large mansion? Remember when you wanted to explore, so you took a good ol' fashioned boat, instead of a plane, or fly mod?
And I'm not saying these things are particularly bad, I mean, if you wanna play the game that way, fine! It's a sandbox! That's what it was made for. But potions, The End, villages, The Nether.. This game looks like an RPG. You can play the game like an RPG, sure! But for us "old tymers", I ask for one thing, either a rollback feature, or a Build mode. And no, Creative mode isn't the answer. I still want the challenge of killing a skeleton, or needing to make a farm to sustain health, without the need for RPG-like features.
Sorry for the rant, I know there's a similar thread, I just wanted to give MCF my take on this. /endrant

But you still need to sustain health with farming, monster fighting is a lot harder now. you can still explore, and the nether, potions, The End, enchanting, and all that jazz is optional...
Also, based on something that notch said, it is possible that what we have now is to be a the adventure mode... he said:
What we’ve got on our hands now is somewhere in between a finished Adventure Mode update and a version of the game we’d be proud to call just “Minecraft”. Not “Minecraft Beta” or “Minecraft Alpha”, but just plain and simple “Minecraft”.
I take from that that the current stuff (strongholds, villages, etc) may just be an adventure mode that he wanted to make sure got tested.
I totally agree with what you have said, except for minecraft turning into an rpg. This is not true. Minecraft is still an adventure survival game and it will never be a full rpg. If you dont like villages an strongholds then just turn off structures from the world generator. If you want the old minecraft use MCnostalgia, thats what I use. I hope this information was useful.

You do know you can turn off villages and you don't have to ever set foot in the Nether or The End. Potions and enchanting are both completely avoidable unless you feel you have to use every resource you can find, and then that isn't the game's fault. If you can't just ignore these settings then just download an old patch for the game back to a point that you found the game most enjoyable.
Well, all the nether and potions and enchantments are optional,so dont worry. The hunger bar though...I origganaly wanted the hunger to be optional but now I think its good. You need to think now,you cant just make yourself a hole and say "I win!". Of course you can have your own opinions
No, eventually you're gonna be forced to use the damned potions.
"Oh, we released this new mob/boss.. He's pretty much impossible to kill unless you have an 'Ender's Realm Sword' and 'Hyper Strength++ Potions'. But he drops diamonds, so that's good.. Right?"

This is a shitty example; you can mine diamonds. Except for hunger, all the new things are avoidable. Otherwise, there is always peaceful or creative modes.

Notch said he would make the game FUN. He would NOT do that to us.
SECOND of all. Mods are mods. You don't have to install them...
Don't like enchantments? Don't use them.
Don't like potions? Don't make them.
Don't like villages or strongholds? Turn them off.
Don't like the new textures? Use a texture pack.
Problem solved. Now quit bitching.

Fixed, to make you seem like less of an idiot.
Don't use enchantments? Extreme SMP disadvantage. The same goes for potions. People like you use the same argument time and time again, without taking into account logic.
I used to be quite strongly opposed to all of 1.8, but I have since downgraded to a disapproval of certain features.

If not using enchantments is a SMP disadvantage then don't play on servers that use it. The whole "don't use etc" argument is the only real argument against users who don't like the new features. The only other viable argument I can't muster is to just wait and see how the features are tweaked. Aside from hunger, they are totally optional.
A clear majority of players really enjoy the newest features, so removing them is only going to punish that majority of players. It will also alienate most players because most players didn't start in alpha. Bring up the using minecarts to boost other minecarts trick in the General Discussion forum and people will be super confused. "Why use that shitty trick when there are super fast booster rails!? LOLN00B"
I don't think Mojang is going to rescind any new feature. Changes may occur, but the features are here to stay. Most old timers also know that Minecraft is going precisely in the rouge-like direction Notch originally intended it to.
Pleeeaseee try to read my post from a neutral point of view; I don't want to start an argument or white night Mojang or anything; I am just sayin'.

Wow, I just posted something against this on another thread. You're seriously ranting about mods? You do realize mods are OPTIONAL right? As an Infdev player, I say you can STFU. You're complaining about optional parts of the game. You don't want mods? You don't want potions? Don't use them. That just means you want to play your own way. But please, for the love of god, don't bring it on the forums.

Remember when you actually had to go and collect your resources, build a cozy cottage and eventually build up to a large mansion?
I still do this.
Remember when you wanted to explore, so you took a good ol' fashioned boat, instead of a plane, or fly mod?
I still take a boat (which is more fun now with rivers!)
And I'm not saying these things are particularly bad, I mean, if you wanna play the game that way, fine! It's a sandbox! That's what it was made for. But potions, The End, villages, The Nether.. This game looks like an RPG.
It always looked like an RPG to me when I wanted it to, and it didn't seem like one when I didn't want it to. I think perhaps you were playing a different game.
You can play the game like an RPG, sure!
Ahh, so you were playing the same game as me.
But for us "old tymers", I ask for one thing, either a rollback feature, or a Build mode. And no, Creative mode isn't the answer. I still want the challenge of killing a skeleton, or needing to make a farm to sustain health, without the need for RPG-like features.
I still play the old way sometimes. All I do is NOT enchant things, NOT make potions, and only go to the nether to grab blocks I want for building certain things. All it takes to do this is to make the choice to do so.
Sorry for the rant, I know there's a similar thread, I just wanted to give MCF my take on this. /endrant
Honestly, all this sounds like a personal problem to me. Uninstall all your mods, start a new world, and just build. Problem solved.
Bought the game in beta 1.2
only thing i kinda miss is not having beds. I like where it is and though i'm going to sound like a douche: You bought a un finished game, although I think notch should allow a time machine feature. (maybe when mod support comes it'll be allowed?)

The game is better now. An RPG is a game with play. There is no story line for this game. There is no end.
Its for the best of us.
Have good grammar. Save us tiem.
