I plan to have a mix of original village structures and my own creations. During construction I realized I could hear zombies during the day but not hear them, leading to believe that there was a cave near the surface. I followed the sound to find that it was actually a dungeon with a zombie spawner very close to the village center. This was extremely lucky and unplanned, as I was planning to hunt and cure zombie villagers on the surface at night - trapping them in pits or fenced areas. But now with the zombie spawner I could farm zombie villagers without having to worry about other mobs above the surface like Skeletons and Creepers. I made a dungeon connected to the room where the spawner is for curing zombie villagers. I do not have much done so far but I do have 2 villagers cured (the zombie spawner isn't spawning as many zombie villagers as I imagined).
I want to expand the village with actual buildings, not a breeding mechanism by stacking multiple doors, however I do plan to make some custom buildings have more doors than I would normally put to aid populating the village.
The village consists of multiple levels separated by walls. There is a canal - half exposed to the air and half covered that allows faster access when traveling by boat to certain areas on the map. This is still a very early stage of the villages development both structure and population wise. The building with the iron door is the top of the dungeon, once the zombie villagers are cured steps lead up to the surface level to begin their lives as villagers.

Entry 11: Home Base Update
The next building project for the Home Base added another story complete with glass gardens. I did not like the way the plain glass looked on the glass gardens so I changed it to light blue or cyan I believe, I can't remember or tell from the pic. The pic shows that construction is starting to wrap around the entire hill/mountain area of the savannah cave. The home base is still far from finished but this was good progress.
A lot of updates to come in the near future, as I try to catch up to real time. To be continued. . .
The important thing is not how long you live... It's what you accomplish with your life. While I live, I want to shine. I want to prove that I exist. If I could do something really important... That would definitely carry on into the future. My spirit will always live on. And so if I were to disappear... I think that all I have accomplished will go on. That would mean that it's living. Right?- Grovyle

How does that zombie curer work? Judging from the photo I'm guessing you just run in run out and close the door behind you to trap the zombie in?
Correct. Have the zombie follow me in to the back wall of the cell, then i run out as quickly as possible and flip the lever to shut the iron door. Once they are captive I feed the splash potion of weakness and golden apple through the space in the iron bars. Once they are cured I have to heard the villager by body pushing up the stairs to the village, which is actually much harder than locking the zombie in, but just takes a little patience.
Entry 12: Mining Trip
A small update here of an abandoned mineshaft with cave spider spawner and what I was able to haul from the total trip.
A huge Home Base Update is coming later. To be continued. . .

Entry 13: The BIG Home Base Update
I have been digging up old screenshots to present before and after shots of the Home Base. I have replaced the plain glass windows with black "tinted" glass, good for those harsh rays in the savannah and desert biomes. Many room additions and exterior renovations are complete. There is still a lot of work to do on the interior, and the exterior is mostly done but not complete. Landscaping of the back yard still needs doing, and plans to move the farm land off-site are in place.

Spent a lot of time with these renovations. Looking forward to getting back to the end game content like Ocean Monuments, Hunting for Wither Skeletons in the Nether, and searching for a Stronghold with Eyes of Ender. Also a couple building projects on the horizon, such as: Pyramid, lighthouse, Quartz temple, and Village development.

Thank you for all the positive comments.
Entry 10: Home Grown Village
After clearing a large flat area near Home Base, I looked up village blueprints on Minecraft Wiki to replicate some of the village structures.
