Do any of you else get what I am saying? I start a world and the first day I am making a house, starting a mine, and getting resources. BY around the fifth day I am bored because I've made mob traps, I have no more needs for items or resources, etc. I enjoyed Minecraft so much more when I didn't know a lot about it. Do you guys agree?
1. Building more things
2. Experimenting with redstone
3. Playing with mods
4. Adventure maps
etc
Yeah, but the thing about it is you lose that specialness you had when you discovered something new. I was completely mystified by redstone. I thought it was a achievement to build a agonizingly small house. Heck, when I built my first nether portal, I felt like a god. I didn't even know shovels, axes, and hoes existed, much less farming. When I got some dogs I treated them like they floated from the heavens on white puffy clouds.
Now, even if you try and find something to do, you'll never get that nostalgia back.
Everythings always more fun the first time you experience it, i totally get how you feel, and wish i could play pokemon for the first time again :tongue.gif:
Yeah, I know what you mean. I had that fresh feeling, it was all great finding new stuff, getting frustrated, thinking you could keep animals like sheep, cows, pigs, and chickens for pets (back in Beta 1.3). Still love Minecraft, probably always will but, I'll probably NEVER have that feeling again.
My god first time I played minecraft was december of 2009. All the lava survival servers blew my mind. I still have my very first creative map. before I knew it minecraft was just another game :sad.gif: *sheds a tear
EDIT: not only do I wanna forget everything but go back to the time when minecraft was still fresh and not as popular. *sheds another tear
I'd suggest mixing it up, if you've made castles then try for a different challenge. Maybe make and log cabin tucked away in the snowy mountains. Or do something epic like teraform the nether ..... hats off to those of you with THAT kind of patience.
Scan the boards and see an idea that strikes you as interesting then set about doing it. There are already some good suggestions here like MP or adventure maps.
AND if you really feel the need for a break, take it. Go play something else and in a few weeks it will be fresher.
None of us can recapture the first experiences we have in life but hey make new ones.
i remember when i first booted up minecraft...I was, confused in this blocky world, I knew what to do in this world, but not what was possible in it. When my first night came along there was a sense of doom creeping up on my little mountain side dig-in, i head outside knowing about the still lurking creepers, i go mining and discovering caverns knowing the dangers of lava, monsters, and dungeons but also knowing of the rewards of gold, iron, and diamond.
Updates kept coming along, bringing me new challenges to conquer, and new blocks to work with, Around Beta 1.7 time, I discovered, and learned how to install mods. They increased my enjoyment of Minecraft majorly, but it only lasted for a while, Minecraft is slowly losing its grip on me.
But everytime i play, i remember way back in Alpha, and i smile to remember the moments like my first creeper scare, my first time finding diamonds, and alot of other things.
What im trying to say is that nobody can recreate their first time in Minecraft, because they already know what to do unlike back then, where everything was a mystery. But you should still remember the glad moments this game has given you. And with these Adventure updates, Minecraft will include new adventures and excitment and challenges, enchantments to assist you with boss monsters, the new bow animation and blocking with your sword to give the game enhanced combat, Minecraft wasent meant to last forever, it was meant to give people excitment, so every time you play, just take a look at the world and smile, knowing what lies ahead, and look forward to the mysteries this game shall bring.
If you like the experience of discovery, you might want to check out the GUI version of "Nethack" ... 2D, round based adventure game.... but even to figure out all ways to die takes some time :laugh.gif: It's based on the D&D ruleset and a super hardcore hard game ^^

I have now started a project that involves a mountain and about 500x500 area to fully create something, so far i've done about 5%

this is sarcasm, because all you 9 year olds won't pick it up
agree. I don't play the game anymore since 1.6. I only build now and wont play survival until release...probably.

Minecraft got boring, because there is nothing new to discover for me.
Solution:
Either
1. Use mods
2. Play an adventure map
3. Play on multiplayer
4. When Minecraft gets updated (To 1.9?), don't read the Wiki!
I agree with you there!
