When will I be able to start a new world and never have to restart my map? I'm frustrated that with every new update, I have to restart my world to include the new content.
After the game is officially released? Man, that can't come soon enough if that is the case.
Do what alot of people do. Play your world, and when a new update comes out go to the nether, travel 200 blocks or so and make another portal. You can have railways going between update stations in the Nether.

I feel your pain. Its completely demotivating to delete world, generate new world, and then find out that new features will force a repeat a week later. If 1.9 was so close to being done, Notch should've just held back 1.8 until 1.9 was ready.
Or you explore new chunks. Take a portal to the nether, walk away, like, as far as you want, and leave via another portal. You get a brand new start with all the extra toppings of being able to easily build an outpost with your current resources.
Um, you don't have to start a new map. You just need to travel far enough that new chunks generate in your world. Those new chunks will then be filled with the new goodies of the update.
I don't build anything seriously anymore because of this fact.
Anything large scale is just practice for the next time.
Oh, and with MCEdit you can import/export your builds so if you build something amazing you probably should just use that to transfer between the two, and for your inventory you can use SPC/INVedit/TMI to add everything you had into your latest save. Less effort than a full blown restart, unless that feels like cheating to you.
Consider it practice to adapt to recent changes I guess, or take a break for a while and do something RL maybe?

Demotivating is a good word. I feel very unmotivated to play when a new update drops. I look forward to a true Mod API for easier management. A finished game in which I no longer must travel outside of my build area to get new materials.
I really want to start over with 1.8.1 but just knowing 1.9 is around the corner makes me want to avoid playing at all.
Oh and I have plenty of RL to take care of. Games are my break from it. :wink.gif:

[quote=Badgerz]You have to keep in mind that people are stupid.
[quote=Catelite]Just because you don't understand how something works, doesn't make it broken or pointless. >_<
What? Ahahahaha

I guess the idea of traveling to new chunk isn't so bad... connecting towns with track.
I also like the mcedit idea. I never thought of making schematics to put in to new maps.
Le sigh. lol
Idk...a new clean map that i know will never need updating just sounds really damn nice.
Thanks everyone :smile.gif:
