This is a minecraft beta 1.8 challenege. Get yourself a diamond sword and armor. Then leave your current home and wander off in one direction with nothing but your sword and armomr. How far can you go and how long can your survive.
Note, you cannot build homes or place blocks. Also, play on hard.
Over 90 % of the human population is stupid (in my honest opinion). Don't expect too much from them when you post something that actually involves thought.
Kill animals as you run. And to those that said this was dumb, well i made this up in the bathroom 5 minutes before school started, can you do something as good as this within the same conditions.
I have a better idea, You can only live in npc villages, and never in the same one for more than one minecraft week, you can't live in the wilderness outside it, just take the homes. No building a house either. Just immediately go to a village and live there, then go on to another one. Sound Good?

I like it but how about living in one npc village for only one day, then you have to leave, but before that, grief it.

Yes I can.
Let's see, off the top of my head...
Invedit yourself 5 melon seeds.
Good. Now grow them.
You may only use melons to build (minus doors/torches/1 workbench/1 furnace for functionality)
For the first 5 days or so at night you'll be forced into guarding your melons from spawned enemies so they're not trampled. Then you have to decide between finally placing some blocks or expanding the farm. Probably also a good idea to gather a lot of wood during the day.
Dare you risk leaving the fruit in search of ore or stone? It's YOUR choice!
Difficult, yes, but better than a usual old "run forever don't stop" mission. Those ones are A. easy because mobs spawn behind you as you run, and B. easy as food is easy to come by in this game.

Wenn ist das Nunstück git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!
There is one way to spice up the 'travel x direction' challenges. Time.
*Pulls example out of thin air*
"The aim of this challenge is to see how far people can get with the bare minimum resources in the shortest amount of in-game days.
Rules:
-No Shelter
-Need to stay on surface
-Only building material is wood/stone
Notes:
If you manage to runs surface Iron, great! But you will need to stop to smelt it.
You are allowed to use torches, but seeing as you must rely on surface coal, you might want to save it for cooking food, to fuel all that sprinting around you will be doing."
However, it is still boring, as most people who know what they are doing can stay alive indefinitely using a wooden sword and no armor.
(Fun fact, the new jump-slice lets you 2-shot things with a stone sword)
Building out of nothing but mushrooms, now there is an interesting challenge. =3
Note, you cannot build homes or place blocks. Also, play on hard.
