I'm in the process of building an iron farm on the 360 version and I have a question. I first built my design in creative to make sure it would work since it's originally designed for the PC version. It works as it should, but the villagers are "phazing out" of their holding cell. I mean that they are passing through the solid walls and floating down to the ground, and then snapping back into the cell suddenly. I know that this was a common issue on the PC version pre 1.8. I've mainly seen it with mob spawners, but I guess it could happen whenever you have a large number of mobs confined to a small area.
Anyway, I'm curious if my villagers could be attacked by zombies when they are glitching out to the ground, or is this purely a graphical glitch? I'm able to hit them in my creative world when I stand on the ground, so I thought a zombie might be able to as well. If they can be hit in this manner, is there any way to fix it? I tried making the walls of the holding cell two blocks thick instead of one, but that didn't seem to help.
No they aren't vulnerable. It's just a visual glitch caused by the client and server temporarily misinterpreting the condition of the villager as falling instead of standing on a block.
I was never sure if you happened to log out of the game when a villager was glitching whether upon reloading he'd be stuck on the outside. One of my Iron Farms has a single layer of glass blocks for the villager area floors, and just occasionally I'll find the odd villager on the ground outside, so there was/is some sort of bug that makes this happen, similar to what I'd get occasionally with overcrowded animal pens ...

That's a little different in that it will happen when the world loads or as chunks load when you get near them. The animals, villagers will load first and walk through walls/fences they are standing next to.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
