We know minecraft classic is free. But we also know its nothing like the current minecraft. When i first told my friend through minecraft he played it and passed it off as "not his kind of thing" but then a week later when he came over to my house i let him play beta and he bought the game that night. Before alpha was even out survival test was the only minecraft, it was also free.If Notch were to make that the demo I can almost guarantee his sales will go up.Now theres one problem to this,Survival test had a lot of content.I could say it has the same amount of replay value as the current minecraft. That is why if they were to shorten the amount of time you could actually play it to one day players would get to see a lot of the current versions game play and then it would take it away.Another plus to having 1 day is that at night they would be forced to mine.Making the player have to see every game play element(well at least the core game play).I think this would be an better demo then classic.\
What do you think?

not a bad idea, but notch would have to downgrade it a bit. thing like: no wolves, no leaving a area the size of 4 chinks, no beds all mobs are rare, ores are more rare. he needs to make it fun, but you make the demo too good and people will be content with just playing the demo. it happens with minecraft classic, so why wouldnt it happen with a mor efun version!?!?

I utterly HATE timed demos, I would prefer unlimited time crappy demos! Notch could bring back Survival Test, very enjoyable or he could bring back INDEV.
Indev is similar to Beta Minecraft, with one exception...Limited Maps.
The Player would be thrown into a world much like Beta, with amazing landforms and many mobs, the player could explore the world around him and mine and farm and punch things. What would you be missing out on however, to make sure buying Beta is worth it:
-Biomes would not exist, meaning no snow or cacti at all.
-Limited maps, imagine the small sized Creative Map.
-The world would stop at Layer 45.
-There would be no DIAMONDS at all.
-There would be no Redstone.
- No beds
- Dungeons would not exist, meaning no mob grinders, mossy cobblestone, apples or golden apples, or cocoa beans
- The Nether would not exist, meaning nothing from the Nether would exist either
-There would be no gold.
-There would be no Slimes.
Notch could + or - anything, but you get the idea.

Creepers, smarter than the average AI...
Thats right, The 4 asians that guard around an area that you can't get past.
My football team is the Russian bears on unicycles.
This. How about they do another demo when they actually finish the game.
Minecraft sales are MASSIVE already so I don't really see the point in a new demo http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/3396 ... tomers.php
I personally vote for just reintroducing survival test itself. I just got done playing it (again). So damn fun.
Though if they have a demo in the works then I guess all is well.
