The lava issue with people being burned while above it may have something to do with the cinders/fireballs that it will sometimes throw out. Before 1.3, these could only set flammable items like wood on fire. They can now ignite the player as well, according to the wiki.
But the damage lava can do to a player has been reduced to a half heart per second plus the fire damage.
Guys, anyone who is being woken up by mobs often, try to make a safe zone around your bed (3 blocks maybe?), so that no mobs can even get into this radius. Because I think if a mob can get within 1 or 2 blocks of you (even through a wall), they will wake you up and appear next to you. So, by placing a bed next to a wall, and the other side of the wall is outside, or unsafe, it'll wake you up. Please test this, this is just my theory.
= bad

[] [] = good maybe
Or you can just make your wall near you bed 2 or 3 blocks wide.

No you didn't, because TNT damage doesn't stack.
See my About Me section for info about me.

No, a thousand times no. The lava bubbles are and always have been just for show.
I've seen a lava bubble from an overhead source land on a tree below, and guess what? No fire. Whereas wood next to that lava source caught fire from just being near the lava. The fireballs do absolutely nothing, and there is no proof otherwise that is not simply coincidence.

I haven't got ignited but it sure hurts! Anyway, I put a mob spawner in netherworld and the pigs spawned were swimming happily in lava .,

If you're building 1 repeater, yes. If you're building an even moderately complex circuit, they save you a ton of space and time.
Not exactly.
For transporting a signal long distances, the old double NOT will be better, because you can extend the repeater out to the 15 block limit instead of limiting it to a diode.
For "complex" circuits, it will all for more compactness, compact delay lines, and isolated, non-inverted signals.
The repeaters are more convenient for compact delays, but not for compact repeaters. This comes from the fact that redstone does NOT connect directly to the repeater, and you need a redstone line going straight into and out of it - which means if you have something like this inputting into the repeater:
[]
It WON'T work, since it will form a horizontal line which won't connect to the repeater above...
It appears I was wrong about the lava, at least where embers could ignite the player or flammable objects. I do know that if you're standing diagonally adjacent to it, you can be set on fire if the lava is to your SW (the south-west rule). It may be other diagonals as well. This has happened to me quite a few times.
Water can also contact you diagonally much like lava can, though all it does is collide with you. Likely the only effect of such a coillision with a water block would be splashing sounds.
Still, I don't think putting a lava incinerator or fire within 5 blocks of anything flammable is a good idea. Countless houses have been burned down because of this.
when ever i try to use my bed it says you can only sleep at night... even with its completely dark outside. and the whole purpose of skipping night is to avoid mobs spawning so whats the point if i cant go to bed until its half way through the night and mobs are everywhere
Multiple other things, besides it being daytime can cause this message to appear:
Bed being surrounded on its sides by blocks
If the room you are trying to sleep in has to many torches, resulting in a very bright light level
I skimmed over the the 40 plus pages of posts here, and I didn't see any regarding the AMAZING NEW "GRAPHICS" option that we can now play with!
3d Anaglyph is quite possibly the coolest feature I have ever seen added to a game ever. Sure it's not perfect and it gives me a headache if I play with it too long, but imagine the great screenshots you can take!
I encourage everyone to bust out some red/blue 3d glasses from their nearest cereal box and bask in the awesomess that Notch has given us.
not sure if anyones realised this but slimes are back :biggrin.gif: (sorry if its already posted, really couldnt be bothered reading through 40 pages)
ive never seen a slime till today, on 1.3_01 beta , they kinda make a wanking noise like fap fap fap fap fap LOL
I love this update, especially the new seed thing! I typed in my username and found a pumpkin patch (with 14 pumpkins!) just a few steps right of my spawn!

I heard one, and dug around until I found it. I was on Peaceful, so I didn't think he could hurt me. But it was a big one. And while i was backing away trying to get screenshots, I backed up into a lava fountain and died. It sucked. That was my first slime, too. If I knew how to attach pictures I would.
Couple of bugs I've found in SMP. Our server uses bukkit. Currently we have no mods installed/running:
1) Stone buttons don't work as intended.
-Power output is incorrect, only goes to the block in front of the button (technically it's directly below the button itself, not the block the button is placed on)
-if blocks are placed around the button, it seems to 'jump' to different locations. Including just 'hovering' in the air.
-if the chunk is unloaded, when you return, the button seems to have the skin/properties of solid stone. If destroyed it reverts to a button again.
2) Ladders
-Turn invisible directly after being placed. They can be viewed for a split second, so it's not from the skin.
-if two are placed touching each other, they break off and can be collected.
3) Other
-Blocks sometimes refuse to be destroyed. Looks like lag, or works like blocks in spawn (it's not, tested 100, 1000, and 3000 blocks away from spawn... just to be sure). Takes 10+ min/unloading & loading chunk to get it working again.
-if a bed is placed in an area that doesn't have enough room, the server kicks you with an "Internal Server Error".
I think that's about it for bugs I've found. Sorry if any of these have been posted already/are well known!

That's why you buy home owner's insurance! I'm sure Allstate or Progressive has a policy for wooden Minecraft homes within close proximity to lava lakes
Just wondering, do slimes need darkness to spawn? I've been unsuccessful getting them to spawn in the light with a mod spawner block. And either way, does anyone know how much space they actually need?

also, fireplaces can only be made from netherack now. :C
