so i was really really tired of being woken up at night when i slept, so i set out on a quest to find a way to stop monsters from awakening me from my peaceful miner sleep. i eventually came up with the Float-A-Bed 9001: the best way to stop your nightmares from spawning in your base.
( ill link to a photo at the end) the basic idea is to elevate your bed above the floor so that: 1. monsters will not be able to spawn and wake you up. And 2. so that the random suffocation issues that happen around beds go away too. so the bed must be elevated at least 3 spaces below it for the bed to work. you do this by towering up 3 layers of 2x1 blocks and then placing your bed on top of them, no mob can jump this high and thus no spawning occurs. Now when you wake up, if you jump off the bed directly you will take damage as you are standing 4 blocks up. so i fixed this by digging one block into the floor around the side of the bed i would jump off of (other side was a thick wall) adn i then placed fenceposts in the holes i had dug. since fences are 1&1/2 blocks they stop you from taking damage at that hight. you can use any of the available half-blocks too (wooden, stone and cobble). then to make it even easier to get down i placed ladders along the wall next to my bed, making it easier to get down altogether. once i had done this my bed worked perfectly and ive slpet well ever since, all the way through the night! the only thing to make sure you do other than these few easy things is to make sure that you have 2 blocks of space above the bed, otherwise youll wake up suffocating in the ceiling. so enjoy this design and have a great time sleeping well with your Float-A-Bed 9001!

that was true in 1.4 but in 1.5 ive made a bed in an enclosed chamber (2 blocks thick) with the bed in the center of the room and torches all around and still had mobs wake me up. so im not taking any chances, and neither does the Float-A-Bed 9001! wouldn't you like to have your bed conveniently close to your supplies instead of in another room? id think so.
actually not true, in 1.5, notch actually added the ability for mobs to sometimes to spawn at your bed because he wanted there to be "a sense of risk" (he said that on his twitter) so it actually is a decent fix.
Yeah, learn some grammar, and this is not a discovery, I and I'm sure plenty of others have known this for a while.
well arent you just a ball of sunshine.
im not saying i was the first one who discovered this, im just showing it to people who dont know about it yet, so they can sleep through the night when they want to.
