If you HAVE to know, Minecraft.net doesn't work on my computer, and I've been trying to get
work for weeks and if it did work i wouldn't have enough money to buy the latest versions.I just said "Reasons..."because It would've taken a long time to type like it did when i explained it for you. :angry.gif:
You don't need money to buy the latest versions. . . like 1.6_06 (Did I spell it right?) I guess all that effort to type all that down was wasted then, well except for the connecting to minecraft.net, I don't know why you have such a connection. Where'd you get this assumption of the latest versions? :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif: =u= funny people. . .
EDIT: If i remember correctly, I think you mean you need to pay for the DLC, not the latest versions.
On Topic: I really think wheat is a better substitute for pork, if you really need health items. A well created farm can supply you tons of food to survive the ages, hell the zombie apocalypse in Minecraftia! Wheat is quick to gain, more resource-efficient and less time-consuming(i.e using swords to kill pigs or using up time to create a trap to collect pork, and to gather up the pigs :dry.gif:)
[Location Continued] Really, I am also in my ☼fungiwood bed☼ with a nearby ☼adamantine battle axe☼, eating ☼cat tallow roasts☼, with a ☼gold flask☼ of a legendary drink, sunshine (Kind of like 100% ethyl moonshine alcohol, except more dwarven.)
most traps that use lava blades hav little if no items lost in the grand scheme of things if ur having an issue with one you may want to check out some other designs

Obviously you don't own Minecraft. If you did, you would know that you don't need to go to minecraft.net to update. It also updates if you log on from the client.
There is one other MAJOR mistake you have made, but I won't tell you because it is such a completely stupid mistake to make that if you ACTUALLY did buy Minecraft you are so completely unobservant that to be honest, you don't deserve to update. And even if you didn't buy minecraft you should've picked up on it by now. EDIT: never mind, it has already been mentioned. Hopefully you will realize which post I am talking about.
Back on topic, I would suggest a setup where pigs are washed to a netherrack fire, and then off a cliff (most of them will go this way instead of staying up top and burning their drops it the fire) (the drop should be long enough that all pigs burn to death before hitting the ground) and at the bottom would be a water flow to bring the cooked porkchops to you. The benefit of this would be that you still get almost all of the drops, but you don't need to cook the porkchops.
Also, you don't really want to use lava blades on passive mobs because due to their shape it is impossible to kill all of the passive mobs. And pigs are especially skilled at avoiding the lava.
Use a deep pit. A 20 block drop will kill your piggies. However if you have them fall through a layer of lava as someone above me suggested you can reduce the height and also collect cooked pork chops. It's a win win scenario.
Forces pretty much everything to come into contact with the lava, especially considering mobs will jump constantly while in water. If you want to be thorough, use like 3 of them in succession.
Well hey, if he's using 1.4 still he could always use the SW rule. :V

Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. (Source)
Anything built within Minecraft, using only Minecraft, without using bugs, is legit.
If you don't want to build mob traps, that's fine. Just don't tell us it's cheating.
Change the difficulty to normal or hard and then place spikes. The spikes will kill everything, and make sure there is no source block water above them or the mobs will float and might not die.

The SouthWest rule to make a killing machine perfect accordingly to Minecraft physics?
I've seen lots of killing machines using this rule, but I never saw a video tutorial that shows how to make a killing machine for 1.4. The versions I saw was for 1.3, Alpha stages, and 1.6_06.
To tell you the truth, if this guy actually had Premium, then why can't he try the drown pit method shown in this video?
Well, maybe not for the TNT but for porkchop and whatnot on the surface.

That's because killing mechanisms stayed pretty much the same until the SW rule was fixed. :tongue.gif:
Then again, drowners, drops through suspended lava, and gravity grinders have always worked too, and unlike the SW grinders of the past, they continue to work quite nicely with 100% item yield (except if you throw chickens at suspended lava). I prefer drowners myself despite their slower killing speeds. They're nice and compact when you want them to be.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
What? It should work. You wanted mobs to be killed at touch right? It should work. Gimmie a explanation of WHY it won't work.

Also, just look up some video tutorials. You can hold up lava with ladders.

I give you that. But why would people make their MCForum name different than their Minecraft account?
Anyways, this thread's bound to become
deadmassively overboard if he still plays on 1.4 Beta.1) He's either pirating Minecraft.
2) Probably trolling us by not updating/asking how to make a killing machine for an outdated version of Minecraft.
Edit: There's a whole bunch of tutorials on Youtube. Why not check there?

Why would you have them be the same? That's just asking for trouble.

The spikes do not destroy the items dropped but instead leave it as bait for an idiot to try and grab the stuff.
I was the second person to use the avatar I have. The rest took it from me. The first I asked, he said yes.
I know what I'm doing. I plan ahead, or get tired and screw up everything.

Collect drops
Basically what I said, but without the fire to cook the piggies.
