This is a survival house I started working on (it's not finished yet). It's in vanilla survival with no cheats. Does anyone have any suggestions for it? Do you like how its turning out so far?
like what firespear said, needs more detail, and don't make it a giant cube
In my opinion, birch wood is the worst material to be used for beams and columns. The other wood variants are okay since their barks are simply aesthetically pleasing. Birch wood ruins the color and detail variation of a building [unless it is used properly].
The inside dimensions of the room is contradictory to the dimensions seen outside. What I mean is that the rooms make your house look small but from the outside, it looks as if the interiors have a high ceiling.
Talking about rooms, at least be considerate in putting up partition walls.
Your windows makes your house too open. Personally, I hate having windows such as yours since it exposes the rooms inside.
Light up the place properly. You don't want unwanted visitors hanging in your crib.

What if I replaced the birch wood with dark oak? Also if I added a smaller room on the side and a porch?
Simply add a 3x3 spiral stair case up (and down into your mine) to a tower about 12+ blocks up before adding a walkway around the edge. Slap an light tower on top to function as a waypoint (usually use fence, 3 posts, slap outer posts with torches, up three more and repeat slapping one more then adding a last torch)
Don't make the walls completely flat. Add columns on the outside, bushes around the bottom using leaves, room or turrets that come out of the main building, window sills, etc. Stone, stone bricks and cobblestone would also look nice with the darker wood types.
P.S. i opened the 1st one.
OT: add more varient to the outside. Stone blocks on the wall, dont make it a giant cube.
Other than that, add a living room, bedroom, etc....
It still needs a bit of work on it.
Cool stuffs in spoiler
Yeah, like a said I am only done with the outside, also I am adding a roof and etc. thanks for the suggestions!

Dark oak suits well. Additional rooms and porches are okay, they eliminate the idea of having a cube house.

You could make your house surrounded by water and it has a bridge in the front of the house, that would be cool.
I give it 8 Pizzas / Rabbits
