I'm here every day, and have been since Alpha. Low post count doesn't mean noob. You're wrong, and a jerk for bringing it up in the first place. Nice try to save though.
It implies noob, which unless you prover otherwise I'm going to assume (yeah Im an asshole) its true. Nice try to save? I admitted I was wrong and made a stupid mistake, and even still my point stands. You STILL haven't mentioned why you couldn't read the sticky, we don't need a new thread for all of these.
He obviously already knew it was gonna be added, it's in the title. Since he made a new thread about it i'm assuming he's trying to discuss it. And yeah, you are an being quite the asshole at the moment (tried to say that in the most polite way possible.)
You can't discuss it in the sticky? The forum just gets spammed with these threads, and look at all the on topic posts in this thread. None of them really say anything about the update, just random +postcount ****.

This is a discussion. Look two posts up--notice the discussion of the implementation of a feature and possible alternatives? That's what game forums are for.
Furthermore, let's assume you're right and I'm just hacking and I joined ten minutes ago. In NO WAY does that affect the current discussion, nor should it have affected the course of this thread. You were being a jerk to bring it up in the first place, and people are just commenting on how it was funny because you were wrong. You're a jerk either way.
Do you have anything to say pertaining to the topic of the thread, or are you going to continue to try to save face? I would much rather the former. Believe it or not I came here to discuss a game change in the coming patch, not to compare post count e-peen.

Trying to save face? If that's all you've gotten so far from what I have said then this is waste of time.
It could be anything, I was just trying to throw out a brief sketch of what a lighting-struck crazy pig might look like. I like the idea of lightning strikes altering mobs, but I don't think changing them into other mob types is the way to do it.
Like, spiders getting hit and becoming faster or something, that would be cool. But I wouldn't want them to just morph into Rana.

Things like your suggestion wouldn't make sense (I know it was just an example) but a pig turning into a zombie pigman makes sense because it's a frankenstein-esque thing, made from bodyparts, and it makes sense for it to be from a pig because... it's a pigman.
EDIT: FFS ninja'ed again, he even used 'frankenstein-esque'
In the Nether, you see, the Zombie Pigmen are trapped forever. The Ghasts, keepers of the Nether, keep the Zombie Pigmen in check, making sure that they are damned forever to rot in the sulfuric fumes of the Nether's atmosphere. But perhaps one found a way out. Through rediscovering an ancient magic from a lost race many eons ago, they have created a way out through a ritual performed in the Nether in the deep, dark caves, away from the prying eyes of the Ghasts and too small for them to spawn in. They synchronize their magic runes through interfacing it with the runes of this ancient lost race that once existed in the 'real' Minecraft world, and every time they synchronize, a lightning storm in the real Minecraft world begins. By infusing their damned souls with this magic, they can then use the lightning to reincarnate their damned souls into their base form, a pig. Thus, when the lightning strikes a pig, it takes the lifeforce of the pig, aka the base form of the Pigman, allowing them to escape the Nether and be reborn as a Zombie Pigman in the real Minecraft world. Sure, they are still horribly scarred and disfigured, but they are at least alive once again, and mortal.
Wait, are you really annoyed that pigs turn into zombie pigmen when hit by lightning? Of all the things in the game THAT is the one that stands out as absurd to you? Not the green sad looking exploding penises? Not the fact that we can hold 2000x our body mass in items? Not the floating islands or mining stone with wood? Or zombies and arrow shooting skeletons? Or massive floating fireball shooting ghosts? Or lava in a bucket? Or....*goes on forever*
Seriously, when I heard that would happen I went "lol that's pretty funny" and left it at that. Of all the things in this game why would you nitpick over this? It's obviously just an easter egg.

I don't think he was nitpicking... just sort of commenting that it was a random thing to include.
It seems rather silly to me. I can't find one good reason for that to happen.
That's what I'm saying. I can take punching trees with your fists and floating sand, but I have LIMITS.
I'd even be more comfortable with it getting white eyes and a charred-look or frizzy mad-scientist hair and becoming hostile. Just metamorphosing into a different mob type seems lazily implemented to me, it at least deserves a reskin.
Being serious though, just roll with it (that's what I do) it will all be good in the end.
Also, it's been stated that anything that isn't fun will be taken out (not that spontaneous transformations brought about by electrical stimulus isn't fun (in my opinion (nested parentheses for the win (I stole that from somewhere, can't remember where though)))).
It makes sense to me though, in a Frankenstein-esque way. If a pig was hit by lightning, it'll be "Frankensteined" or in other words Zombified. On this note, if Zombies are hit I want them to morph into Steves' and just be neutral, If Creepers are hit they should have a shorter fuse and if Spiders are hit they should just be magnanimously huge.

Maybe I just need to get used to it. Something like Adarr's explanation actually makes me feel better, although it seems a bit of a stretch. I was having trouble imagining a situation in which this makes sense.
And Darkel, there's a ton of weird stuff in fictional media, but that doesn't mean that you can add anything to a story and call it a good addition just because it's fiction. Like, let's look at Star Wars. They fly space ships and know telekinesis and mind-control. But if a guy suddenly turned pink and started shooting sparkles out of his nose you'd call BS, because--despite the other weird stuff going on--that just doesn't fit with the established universe.
What I'm having trouble with is figuring out how lightning + pig = Zombie Pigman makes sense, given that Zombie Pigmen live in a different dimension and as far as I know don't actually have anything to do with pigs except for looking like them.
Idk I've just accepted that this game has no limits and will always remain funny and quirky. And that rare easter egg seems to fit right in with the rest of it to me. Pig turning into pigman isn't much of a stretch.
I thought they were like the spawn of two pigs that got trapped in the Nether, and their spawn were deformed due to the gases present. Or something present.
They were those pigs were naughty enough to get sent to hell where satan used them in his experiments, obviously.

Maybe it'd be best for me to just figure that's what's going on and stop worrying about it. My nerd-OCD is going crazy though.

I know exactly what you mean. I have the same sort of opinions about Pistons being implemented. It just doesn't fit with me, and seems too... technical for MineCraft.
There's always that old "you don't like it then don't use it" thing, but honestly we needed a way for redstone to actually interact with blocks, and piston is the simplest way to accomplish that.
I personally like the idea. Zombie Pigmen are normally passive anyways, so it doesn't make anything harder. Besides, if you see one, you can kill it easily without having to worry about a whole horde of Zombie Pigmen rushing at you with murder in their eyes. Besides, I really want to see a pig turned into a Zombie Pigman. :tongue.gif:
