Yea it seems simple to me, because I work with multi stage traps on a regular basis... I was going to record a video of one of my recent drown + cacti + tnt + no light + falling blocks trap but can't seem to get around to it.
Traps are not actually relative things, though. There is a rather objective ceiling on how complex a trap can be that is designed to just go out in the countryside.
Why? Because the average cost to the victim is going to be about the same in any "wandering around" situation. So traps that are too complicated will cost more than the damage they do, which defeats the purpose of a trap.
There are places for complex traps, like a treasury or some place that has valuables, but that is a different context.

Przerwap, upon looking at some code I had just written: "...Gav... That's not how programming works."

Ah but the difference is that my complex traps are always situated in the entrance to my domain, and the cost to replace is only 2 TNT and 5 sand, and takes less than 30 seconds.
I would like a diagram or video of this trap please :smile.gif:
Sounds like an interesting way to defend my own home turf.
but on a real pvp server, why would they step on a pressure plate if they can clearly see it? even if its to open a door, they wouldnt let there be a pressure plate to easily open a door on a pvp server, it would be guarded.

I thought the same, but the pressure plate "could" simply be to open the door. But, it would be right next to the door. I guess it really depends on how much attention the person is paying. No trap is 100% gonna get everyone though.
This trap would be more suited to either sadistic pleasure at planting an entire field of disguised-TNT and blowing somebody else up, or what it's optimized for: a base entrance. Just have a simple corner that they wouldn't suspect, or have multiple ones. Take your pick. Have a lever that would keep the input at where it is, hop on, and reset the lever. This is probably where multiple cacti/item dispensers would work well.

It would work better if the dispensor to reset the trap every 15 minutes was placed at a distance from the actual trap, so only one dispensor gets blown each time, and have the "reset trap dispensor" hooked up to multiple landmine dispensors. If you understand what I'm saying...

Awesome! I will incorporate something similar into my defenses on the SMP server I play on.

Now I'm going to have to carry a full inv whenever I go to war :sleep.gif:
After all, they probably filled up a whole field with these traps and then lava underneath them.
